Anne Tenino (annetenino) | 197 comments (4) Logan! This isn't a question so much as an exclamation. I am so intrigued and surprised. Did he surprise you when you were writing TT, or did you know about his mysterious past from the beginning?

I did, actually. There's always been a reason Logan was and would be important to the Blue and QESA in particular. It's not exactly the same reason as it was originally, but yes, that was sort of planned (in the same haphazard way I plan everything).

The next book is Laslo and Logan's yes, but I think it's getting pushed back to the beginning of next year. Trust me, it needed to be done (I've been writing too much and needed a break), but it's coming as soon as I can write it, I promise.

The truth is that it was 80% written before 18% Gray came out, but it didn't work with the new series arc, so I basically had to start over. Some of what I wrote for the original One Queer Iota (Laslo and Logan's book) is actually in TT, rewritten from either Matt or James's viewpoint, but a lot of it won't actually get used. I'm about 20% done with the new One Queer Iota.

Ack! Do not burn out! And if I hear you have developed wrist problems I am going to be really sad! :-(

I was actually afraid I gave too much away about him too early, but no one has complained about that, either (keep in mind I don't read all of my reader reviews—it's better for my peace of mind—I have someone that gives me a report on things she sees mentioned repeatedly). "

Oh, good. I was underestimating your readership. I should trust gay scifi readers! I don't think you gave away too much too soon. I took a long time to really puzzle it out, and there are still some mysteries left.

And you are very wise not to read your reviews. :-)

So . . . any chance you would be willing to share your original idea? I love outtakes.

I promise I'm doing my best not to burn out. ;-) And no wrist problems yet, so hopefully it will stay that way.

Oooh, tell me what's still a mystery to you about Djinn. I want to make sure I plug all the holes.

Originally, Logan had done studies on the psychology of psychics. Everyone thought he was a crackpot in Idaho, but when QESA found out they sent Laslo right back after him. There were some complications with that original storyline and the later changes in the series arc, and this worked better, so I changed it. :-)

Ha! Your love of tech shines through like a dang supernova. Just because you don't go to the ST cons, don't think you get away with not being a geek! (Says fellow SF geek who has never been to ST cons, or any other SF cons for that matter...)

I think it's nearly impossible to separate politics and economics - most government policies, good or bad, here or in any other country, are economically driven. I loved all the hints and snippets you dropped about economic disparity here and there as part of the action without whapping your readers over the head with it.

(Very much looking forward to Logan and Laslo - their one scene was so adorable, lol)

Anne Tenino (annetenino) | 197 comments Laslo and Logan are so freaking sweet. It's coming along slowly, and yes, the politics and economics will be intense, but I keep getting wrapped up in them more than anything. They luuuurve each other. *sigh*
