I have a wonderful husband who occupies the kids when they are home. I also read when kids are at school and in bed.

I started January 1st with the goal of reading 24 books (I have a toddler). I just completed my goal with one month to go!I actually think I read more books, but sometimes I forget if they're quick reads.
My goal for the year was 3-4 books a month or 50 books for the year and I have passed that, yay! Of course I have been a slacker the last few weeks and am hoping to get back into a reading mood to get a little more.
Just one book to go!! I'm currently juggling 3 books right now, so one of them will be the lucky one to complete my challenge. :-)
I was 4 books short of my goal of 50 in 2008 and 6 authors short of the a-z author challenge. Still was a complete success in my eyes as I've never come close to reading that many books in one year! I am shooting for the same goal next year and may add a page # goal also...we'll see.
I set a goal of 36 books to read during 2009. Starting December 2008 until December 2009. So far I have completed three books from my To Read list and one that was not on my list. In addition I started another book last night and I am 50 pages from completing that!
I was short 9 books from my 1st challenge here of 50 books by Dec. But I did read more and messed around on the computer less which was a part of my goal too, so that's a good thing.
Next up 2009 goal. Read books from 2008's to-read list
Next up 2009 goal. Read books from 2008's to-read list
I'm a little disappointed to say that I didn't meet my unofficial reading goal, which was to read more than 200 books in 2008. (I only read 182 books this year.) I also didn't quite finish the author alphabet challenge (but also hadn't really applied myself to it) and failed abysmally at the to-be-read challenge. So in 2009, I hope to read 200 books, complete the author alphabet and TBR challenges, and complete a "variety is the spice of life" challenge in three months. Wish me luck!
Didn't manage to finish my A to Z author challenge. I had less reading time due to excessive activity and having to learn lines for our play. Here's the link to my challenge bookshelf:

I will do smaller changes this year, like "read your name", graphic novel challenge and Stephen/Harper challenge ( I already have 2 of the books he recommends).
I was short 9 books of my goal of 50 last year so I'm going to try again...so far...
3/50 (and I'm currently reading 2)
Another goal of mine is to not mess around on this site so much!!! The problem is that it's such a cool site that I spent more time online then I do reading ; ) Kinda ironic because the whole website is supposed to be centered around reading more. :)
So far, I'm on 8 out of 50. My guess is that I will have finished ten books by the end of the month, so I have really underestimated myself. If I read 10 books a month, 50 in a whole year is no challenge at all! So maybe I'll just challenge myself to read another 50 books when I'm finished...
Here I thought I was doing pretty good until I saw these stats...my weakling stat is 6/50. Oh well...I'll keep on treking along at my snails pace..LOL...good job everyone! :)
Out of my goal of 50 books, I've read 6 so far. I just finished one today, and am almost done with another. I should probably be farther than this but its probably fine. During the summer I can read a book a day. :)
My goal is at least 25 books this year (starting in Nov.); I'm currently on #6 & 7. How some of you manage to read 50+ books a year amazes (and inspires) me!
STATUS UPDATE Feb '09 to Feb '10: my goal - 24 books and/or 2 per month; 1 with my live book club and 1 of my own. The one that is my own must be from books that I already own, or else it does not count towards my challenge.
Feb (Challenge Met.) 2 books and 1 novella:
The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao (bookclub & own)
Eclipse (own)
Ordinary Love (library) novella by Jane Smiley
Hi Fiona - I should make my 24 also be ones that I already have at home. Because of my reading group books, I can't put that on myself, but I can do a modification to my challenge and have 12 of my 24 be from what I currently have at home. Great idea! Thanks!
Hi everyone. I read a whole lot so far this year I've read 23 in January 09 and 37 in February (with 2 days left). I figure I can easily read 20 books every month so I'm gonna challenge myself to read 30 per month. 360 in 2009.
So far I've read 24 books and over 6000 pages. My current goal is 50 books and 15.000 pages. But since I have quite a lot of time to read, the goals might change sometime this year. ;)
~completed 7/52 (lame I know) With two I'm reading now and one I'm starting soon. Goal set on December of 2008 going until January 1st of 2010.~
~I'm reading 52 books because of 52 weeks out of the year~
I've read 46 of my 100 for 2009, but only 11 of these have been full-length books with the rest being graphic novels. Of course, some of those graphic novels are 500+ pages, so I'm not sure what to count. If I can read 40 or 50 full-length books in addition to my voracious comic reading habit, I'll be happy.
My Challenge for this year is to try to read 100 books. I'm planning on reading- 40 books from my bookshelf
- 40 books that I've borrowed from the library or from friends
- 15 classics
- 5 non-fiction books..
My current status (April) is:
- 10/40 books from my bookshelf
- 18/40 books from the library
- 1/15 classics
- 1/5 non-fiction
And I have read a total of 28 books so far.
My goal is to read as many books as I can and save a dollar for every book I read
$27 so far and counting!
$27 so far and counting!
i've read 25/50 books so farand 8945/1,000,000 pages.
so i'm halfway through my book goal, but i'm not sure if i'll hit my pages goal before my book goal, so i'm most likely going to have to stive to accomplish more than 50 books this year.
I'm on track with both my A-Z title challenge and my 2 per month or 24 for the year challenge. Although I have to start making sure that my selections match the letters I nend for the A-Z title challenge.
I'm on book 6 since 4/16 which is much quicker than I usually read thanks to GoodReads. My goals are to read 26 books (one for each letter)by next 4/16, at least 5 of them being classics (1 down, 4 to go). So far so good. But I just realized that I'm reading 2 books in a row that start with a "G". Argh! :(
So far my A-Z Titles include a C, F, and L. I am almost finished with a B and halfway through an E. The next two on my list are a T and a G.
This year I'm going to read 50 books. (Hopefully!) And I've read 15 so far... So I think it's going well... Stuff should move faster when school lets out! ; D15/50!!! um.. that's 35 more. Yay?
Right now I am at 26/100 for the year, but I have two weeks of vacation coming up which should add another 10 or so to that. I'm a little bit behind my goal but it will be fun trying =)
Hi I'm new but I thought I'd post.I started my challenge on May 29, 2009 and will go until December 31, 2009.
I have a few goals.
I am 7/100 for the year (or at least the rest of the year)
I am 7/26 for the A-Z title challenge
I am 5/26 for the A-Z author challenge
It's great to see how far everyone has come and how far they still have to go.
:)

Camilla- I was just thinking the same thing yesterday, that I spend so much time "surfing" GoodReads, it has cut into my reading time! LOL
I read 50 books before my 25th birthday....and I was four months ahead:) Yea! I feel so accomplished!!!!!!
I started my challenge on April 16, 2009 and will go until April 16, 2010. I have a few goals.
I am 8/26 for the year
I am 7/26 for the A-Z title challenge
I am 2/6 for the classics challenge
I am 2/5 for the BBC challenge
Hi, I'm new and my goals for this year are to read at least 50 books and complete A-Z author and title challenges. I started my challenges on January 1st.
Current status:
59/50 for the year
22/26 for the A-Z author challenge
20/26 for the A-Z title challenge
I won't be finishing A-Z challenges this year, better luck next year.

My time frame is the year 2009.My personal goal at the beginning of the year was 36. My new goal is 50 books. So far: 39/50. I have five months to finish 11 books. Shouldn't be too hard. :)
A-Z Author Challenge: 15/26
A-Z Title Challenge: 24/26
I set my goal for 100 books from January 1st to December 31st. I've read 49 so far and working on two right now. I've been also using as a guide the A-Z titles and A-Z authors for part of my reading. Some of the books I've read are repetitions of authors so they don't count on the author list, but they count on my overall goal for reading.
