V.R. Christensen (vrchristensen) In which the plot advances through correspondence.

V.R. Christensen (vrchristensen) An Unknown Friend is requested to mention (by advertisement) an address at which a letter can reach him. The receipt of the information which he offers will be acknowledged by a reward of Five Pounds.

V.R. Christensen (vrchristensen) I laughed out loud when I read the amount. Oh, boy. Noel is under Mrs. L's thumb, all right. I wonder what Magdalen can make of him.

Marialyce Horatio is really something...talk about working both ends and don't you just want to gag? "If your present plans point that way, I am ready to squeeze Mr. Noel Vanstone, in your interests, till the gold oozes out of him at every pore.". Yep he will take all the gold before Magdalen Could blink her eyes. Boy, he is such a conniver.

And then there is Frank "The one consolation which supports me in bidding you farewell is, that neither of us is to blame. You may have acted weakly, under my father's influence, but I am sure you acted for the best. Nobody knew what the fatal consequences of driving me out of England would be but myself—and I was not listened to. I yielded to my father, I yielded to you; and this is the end of it!" oh,please....Frank has totally disappointed me...what a whimp!

V.R. Christensen (vrchristensen) Oooh! We are in the same place. I JUST now read this. Oh yay! Yes, I'm very angry with Frank. Very, very angry. From now on I may take the example of my P.F. Collier edition and call him Farnk. He has really disappointed me as well. What a selfish, unmanly man. It perhaps was the honorable thing to release her. I don't know. It gave her so much hope. But to blame her. oh! And he says he isn't blaming her, but he does.

And now Capt. W has befriended Mrs. L. Ooooh, the plot thickens.

Martha (marthas48) I'm camping and I hope I have the correct section. Frank is terrible. Was anyone else surprised that he failed at yet another position. What a loser!!

On a happier note, I also think this is the section where my father's name appeared ... Richard Jarvis. That was a bit of a treat .. Wish I could tell him. :-)

Marialyce Martha, I am sure he knows you would.
Yes, Frank is the proverbial loser big time.
