What do you think about book trailers

BTW, the adult group just did a big marketing survey in which this was one of the questions too. So we should soon have some data on the adult side. I wonder if there's a generational difference.

Now that I know they exist, I think they might pique my interest in a book, but I still wouldn't make a purchase without either reading a sample or reading reviews.

I do wonder if the numbers might be better in YA than in the adult books. maybe we'll do a poll on here sometime.

I know some individuals who do them for their own books or a small number of clients. Daniel A. Kaine did his own for Dawn of Darkness, for example. It's nicely done but I'm not sure it would influence me to buy the book without other info, and I'm not sure how readers would find the trailer if they didn't already know about the book in the first place.

I think if they're well-done they can help. Is it worth spending a huge fee on to have, imho no. But if you know someone who's a gifted video editor and can whip something together for you, I say go for it.

How did you figure out where to post it/ how to get people to see it? That's the part that's really not intuitive to me.

I personally only watch book trailers if I have an urge to know what the book is about but mostly I don't bother with the book trailers.
