Completely agree, Stu. The same thing through a different facet of the prism.
Enjoy the documentary, Stu :)
Speak to you later, mate.
Emma wrote: "Ha ha, you proved your point by posting at the same time and making the same point!! I love you guys :-)"See. I knew you'd notice that, Em :)
Enjoyed reading all your answers to some interesting questions but I am away now. Night, night all and thanks Ian and Lorrainexx
So, time to ask THE question. AWM 2. Is it going to be about Johnny again, or is it about other people but in the same background as AWM?Edit... I was asked by Ian to keep the question for tonight :)

Thanks, Pat. Lovely having you around :)
Hi all, I think we might be reaching a natural end here. Stu has already found the bar and I expect Ian is about ready. I certainly can detect the aroma of 'Fine and Dandy' (Hydes). Are you about ready to wrap up?
I'm sorry for lurking and not taking a bigger part in your event, Ian (: Please don't take it personally, as I've been quite involved in others. It's just that I haven't finished reading your book due to exams and the operation. I have started AWM, though, and am really enjoying it so far!Just wanted to take the time to say that I admire you, and others who have participated in the live event, for putting yourself out there and engaging with your fans (:
..and back to lurking (:
Night Night Pat !This is my last question and I don't think there are many of us left now.
I need to apologise to Ian... I gave him a list of "usual live event questions" to prepare in advance, and not a single one has been asked lol ! But it was great because there was a real focus on AWM :)

Any questions you want to ask along the way or at the end, don't hesitate to get in touch :)

Yep. I'm in need of a coffee, Simon. Proper knackered. Been a blast, though :)

Yes there'll still be the spoiler thread :)Thanks everyone for attending tonight, asking some cracking questions and making this a really interesting night. I don't know about Ian, who's probably got sore fingers, but I really had a ball !
Lorraine, this has been a brilliant event so well done and thanks so much to Ian for putting up with the insanity. If you are OK Lorraine I will close this thread and open up the general discussion thread where anyone with any energy can carry on.

No apologies necessary, Lorraine. I thought I'd wing it anyway, so nothing wasted, eh :)
I just wanna add that I have been lucky enough to have met Ian on a few occasions and he is one of the nicest most laid back people I have ever met. He is a very talented writer and I think we are just at the very beginning of the AWM journey and it is a privilege to be there at the beginning, all the best Ian :-)
Thank you all for being a part of a brilliant event. Thanks especially to Lorraine for being a fantastic host.Night night all :)

My question.. Do you start with a title and then write, or write then come up with a title? How do you come up with said title, is it a case of picking it out of a hat..."
Hi Katy:)
With the short stories, the title comes in pretty much immediately, although I never start with it. I always start with a feeling, a moment, and just go from there.
The title for AWM was provisionally Fortunes Always Hiding - a line from Bubbles - the West Ham song. Was a friend of mine that read an early draft and pointed out not only was ABIDE WITH ME a pivotal moment in the book - being sung at the cup final - but it was also the sentiment that tied the whole book together. When she said that, it was like the title revealed itself all in a flash.
I love it when that happens.
