Making second edition preferred edition

I have issued a second edition of my novel DANCING IN THE SHADOWS OF LOVE, with a new ISBN and a new cover. I have added the second image, and combined all editions of this novel. However, the first edition with the old cover (which is unattractive) is still pops up as a primary cover/book when searching by either author name or book title.

Amazon has the facility to make a second, newer edition the "preferred edition" so that readers are informed that there is a newer edition available.

Is there a way to make the second edition with the better cover the primary, preferred edition on Goodreads?

No, there is currently no way to manually set the default edition. It automatically defaults to the one that has been shelved by the most users.

Oh dear. So only if more readers shelve the second edition than the first will it become the default edition?
