So, next question, what did everyone do? :D

My family had a grill-out and then we just spent time together, playing board games and chatting. At night, we went for a stroll round the neighborhood and enjoyed the loveliest 4th of July weather we've had in years (it rained earlier that day). We heard fireworks but sadly never saw them... Still, it was one if the best Independence Days I have ever had. :)

The Sat. before the 4th, we had some friends over & went swimming. Then, my family & some friends went to a celebration in a nearby town where they had lawn mower races, shovel races, turtle races & some other stuff. There was a band playing Southern Gospel & Country music. When it got dark, someone sang The Star Spangled Banner & the fireworks started! :)
On the 4th, we had hot dogs, etc. at my Grandma's house before church.
As for the weather... It was over 100 deg. until close to dark (which is typical June/July weather).

When you get a bunch of red necks together for the 4th of July, things can get slightly crazy! :oP This was the first year we've had a shovel race, though. It was especially interesting as well as a bit more dangerous than people expected it to be.
Another thing we always have is Watermelon! YUMMY!! :D

we just chilled n grilled around the house, then we went up to town to watch the big fireworks show..it was festive but kind of lame....only like 15 minutes of the SAME fireworks after each other. lol
