May 2012: Science Fiction Romance

Definitely good and sci-fi (Ok...yeah there are vampires...it might be argued that it's paranormal romance, but I think the world created in it argues in the favor of sci-fi) is Sunshine by Robin McKinley. Also definitely good, but it's fantasy and SUPER long, is Kushiel's Dart by Jaqueline Carey. The latter definitely has some smut. Highly recommend both if you don't like sickeningly sweet romance.

Megan, Candy - you weren't the only ones. I've had the same conversation with a number of people who were scathing about Stephanie Meyer, where I start by saying 'So you've read 'The Host', then?' and tell them a little about it. At least it reduces the amount of vitriol in the conversation!

A long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away), I enjoyed Susan Grant's Contact , Robin T. Popp's Too Close to the Sun , and C.J. Barry's books Unearthed and Unraveled . All sf-romance.

I, also, like The Host. Some parts were a bit slow, but, overall I enjoyed the read.
