psss becky, I like them.(but not if someone tells me to do the dishes. I like them as long as it comes natural).

Kandice, me too. My boyfriend always says he wants a dishwasher when we have a place of our own. I don't want one at all. I mean for two people? he is jsut used at his place to have one and well...italian family, mum is always cooking.....it is a good idea there but not for just us two!
he also likes paper plates and so, I hate them!

I also don't like what they do a lot in southern european countries: leaving the dishes to dry instead of drying them.

Kandice Jeane-Watch out! These silly girls will call you weird, but I don't think you are:)

My house is a nice considerate light gray, darker grey trim, red front door and window shutters. It goes very nicely with my grey scalloped fence and brick pillars. I think a house should look nice to everyone! Not be an eyesore. And you're right about it being worse because their house is so big!!!! It's 3 stories now, so you can see it all the way down the block. I had to see it again on my drive to work.

Jackie-Your avatar looks a little like a Varga girl. Very pretty!

Kandice, there is a fridge magnet with a mother on it and ...don't remember exactly how it is said but it comes to a phrase that others would realize what mother do when she wouldn't do it anymore.... But the way it is said and done is great!

Kandice, can they do that? In the little mountain village where my boyfriend lives in italy, you can't jsut paint your house. It has to be approved by the mayor or well you know the ones working for him, because that way the houses would stay similar or match with each other. First i didn't like the idea, but it gives a lot of beauty to the place. No surprises!

message 208: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Thanks Kandice! I did a search and came across this pic. I liked that she was sexy and nerdy. I could relate :P

Jeane, here it depends on the location. For the most part you could paint your house whatever color. But if you live in a tourist place, like Florida, then you might have to seek approval from the city before any major changes are done. Also, if you live in a gated community you will have to check before you paint.

message 209: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Jeane, you're weird too, but only partially weird because you still have a semi-aversion to doing dishes. Kandice is all weird because she likes doing them. ;)

(As soon as she sends me her address though, I will send her my dirty dishes with return postage!)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Yay!! They are on the way! ;)

message 212: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I don't mind doing laundry... I just hate folding it and putting it away. While it's washing and drying, I can read, not so much when I have to fold and stuff. :(

message 213: by Kandice (last edited Jan 23, 2009 11:33AM) (new)

Kandice We are saving for a new washer/dryer because the ones we have now are about kaput. I used to be able to do other stuff, but now I have to constantly listen. The washer peiodically stops FOR NO REASON and you have to push resume. It takes up where it left off, but it's a pain. The dryer does the same thing. If I put some in and leave the laundry room, I invariable come back to a damp mess!
It's taking a long time to save because I want the front loaders in green and that stack so I will have room for a rod in the laundry room. Everytime I get irritated with the laundry, I close my eyes and imagine how nice the new ones will be and that it's worth the wait.

message 214: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 1000 comments There is a house in my neighborhood that is Pepto Bismol pink and also has bright red doors! Ugh!

As for my rant, I'll just quote what my mom said to me the other day. "You are always reading, I wish you would get a hobby."

message 215: by Jessica (last edited Jan 23, 2009 03:19PM) (new)

Jessica | 1000 comments My mom isn't really a reader, she basically reads if she is on vacation and even then not so much. She has told me on more than one occasion, "You aren't doing anything, you are just reading." Last time I checked, reading qualified as doing something.

message 216: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I HATE when people say that. My absolute favorite times are laying on my bed with all 3 of my children (who barely fit as they get older! boohoo) and reading. We usually have the dogs on there too and the background noise machine turned to crickets or the ocean. My husband will peek his head in the door, roll his eyes, and leave without a word!!!

message 217: by Katie (new)

Katie Kandice - That sounds awesome! All of your kids are able to be on the bed, reading independently, without fighting? *bows down*

Okay so I came on here b/c the thread said I could rant...and I need a little ranting. I didn't mean to disrupt the flow of the conversation but boy did I have a heck of a week. I just had over a thousand dollars taken from my bank account. Do you know how much money that is to a college student? Good Lord, I nearly had a heart attack when I saw what my new balance was. Turns out I've become a part of this: http://www.usatoday.com/money/perfi/c...
They got my numbers and just started buying away. And you know the places they pick? Home Depot, WalMart, and gas stations. I mean, seriously, how 'bout a little class, criminals? *rips out hair* I'm seriously freaking out over this. Fortunately, Wachovia has been awesome about the whole thing and they've refunded everything that I lost. I canceled my card and I'm getting a new one in a few days. The problems are just about fixed...but I feel so vulnerable, you know? I honestly never thought that kind of thing would happen to me. You see that? It's my naivete disintegrating into dust.

message 218: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) That's terrible Katie! At least your bank is doing the right thing and covering your losses. Thank goodness for that!

Luckily, I don't have to worry about people stealing my money, since I don't have any. (They could steal my debt though. I'd be OK with that.)

My father used to say that.'what are they going to take? We don't have anything...besides bills.'

message 224: by Kandice (last edited Jan 24, 2009 09:55AM) (new)

Kandice Katie-I am so sorry! That is an incredibly justified rant! I'm glad it's being fixed. Oh! Thanks for the kudos. They don't fight ONLY when we are reading. Watch t.v.? Forget it!!!!

Fiona-I have the biggest crush on Gil Grissom! I think he is so..... I think it's because he's smart AND quirky!

Becky- I think they have refined stealing to the point that they can actually ADD to our debt! It is, however, one thing to be said about having no savings! There's always supposed to be a bright side, right?

Fiona-In regards to "weirdo" -Sassy pants!!!!!

message 225: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I agree with Fiona. Gary Sinise is much sexier than Gil Grissom in my opinion. But Gil is way cool with his bug collection. (Not that I'd ever have one.)

Kandice, they are not to give me MORE debt, my "Theft Allowance Rules" state that they can steal my debt and then it becomes their own debt and no longer mine. If they want to be generous, IE: giving me more debt, I can think of many things I rather have. Like peanut butter cookies.

Katie, that's awful! Glad to hear that your bank is coming through for you though. Ever since that TJ Max id theft, that's stated in the article you posted I've started paying in cash. ID robbers are so savvy it's crazy.

message 227: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) Sinise is sexier than Grissom for true, but I don't think he's as good an actor.

message 228: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Oh, I disagree... I love Gary Sinise- he's one of my favorites!

message 229: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I want to make it clear-GRISSOM IS NOT MY IDEAL MAN- it's just that Peterson plays him so smart, humble, non-presuming, and self absorbed, but in a great way that i just can't help myself! Has anyone seen him in anything else. I mean, he is a really great actor! He has played such polar opposite parts and been completely believable in all of them. My husband teases me about Grissom. I have all the seasons of CSI on DVD but probably wont want them now that Fishburn has taken over. I will guiltily admit I wished for Sara Sidle's death-often!!!

message 230: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I like watching CSI Miami more ad my favourite is David Caruso. Not bad either is Adam Rodriguez. Caruso is so great in the show. His character and personage is really wonderful.

message 231: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Jeane... I have to disagree with you regarding Caruso. I don't like him at all. He is good at one thing though: Brooding.

He's my least favorite CSI leading man. I just wish he'd stand up straight once in a while!

message 232: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments haha, I like how he plays his character.

message 233: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I haven't watched the Miami one since the guy from the first season left. I don't remember his name, but he had dark hair and was also a bit broody. I liked him a lot. I DO NOT like Caruso.

message 234: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Yesterday, as I was leaving the house to go to work, I slipped and fell on this enormous sheet of ice that had formed overnight. It had warmed up a little, so the snow was melting a bit, and then refroze overnight, making everything super slippery. Add to that the fact that my walkway slopes down, it was like stepping onto a slide coated with vaseline!

So, I fell. Hard. Luckily I didn't break anything (like my neck on the stair I had just stepped off of) but I am really REALLY sore today and my whole left arm and mid-back to mid-thigh area is a huge mass of bruises.

I look like someone beat me. Poor pitiful me. :(

That's the background story. Here's my rant:

I HATE WINTER.

message 235: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Not yet, but that's my plan for the rest of the night. Right now I'm having a blast doing my taxes. Yay.

message 236: by Kandice (new)

Kandice You poor babies! Both of you! Becky, make that guy off yours pamper you, but make him think it's his idea!!!!

message 237: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) My night has improved somewhat.. I should be getting a nice tax refund! Yay!

And the boyfriend IS pampering me... He's off at his friends house and leaving me to relax in peace! Hehe. That's good enough for me right now!

message 238: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I feel so guilty admitting this, but some of my best relaxing is when Vinny (my husband) has the kids out and it's just me and my dogs! Heaven. I never get lonely!!!!

message 239: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I don't feel guilty admitting that I like it when Thomas is out of the house! Not at all!

When he's home theres always like 50 things going on at once: the radio is on, the tv is on, hes on the computer listening to a podcast lecture on Buddhism or an audiobook (which he considers "reading"- pfft!) and hes painting and doing laundry and tinkering with something... its enough to make me crazy!

I don't know how he can stand it all! I sure can't, so when it's just me and the cats, its heaven! I'm sure that when we have kids, they will be mini versions of him, and my peace and quiet will be eternally destroyed.

message 240: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Hahaha! If Thomas does laundry, I think you should NOT worry about him fetching groceries! I would way rather Vinny help with clothes than bags!

I didn't feel guilty about wanting to be alone when it was just us. I only feel guilty now because of my children. When I didn't work, I pretty much counted the hours 'til they got home from school, now I count the hours until Tuesday nights, when they all have clubs and I get to come home to an empty house for 3 hours!

As far as the t.v goes, Vinny ALWAYS likes it on in the background, even if he isn't watching it! I hate that. I don't watch very much, usually DVD's, but I just hate the continual noise of it. ESPECIALLY laugh tracks. They set my teeth on edge!

message 241: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) My boyfriend does that- always have the TV on, if not the radio. It's like he's afraid of silence. For me it's sensory overload after a few hours and I need a quiet space.

message 242: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Maybe it's a female/male thing!

message 243: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) I think it is with the female preferring quiet over constant noise most of the time. I also think it's just a balance thing in relationships. I say this because I've observed family member relationships and it seems like there is always a loud one and a quiet one.

message 244: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Rachel-I can definitely relate today! Check your in-box:)

I have the same thing Kandice....but you know what. I don't feel lonely because I know it is only temporarly. I wouldn't want him to be away for years but now and then an afternoon or some hours....it is nice.

I’m sorry; I didn’t peruse the posts before joining this group. Mea culpa. As a reader and writer I lived under the illusion that friendship had more to do with smiles and silences than carefully weighing the supplicant’s worth. With a one-in-ten chance of passing muster, I would dread having to ask anyone here to be my friend.

Take care,

Carlos

message 247: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Just a little complaint! My husband bought me some shoes this weekend. They are 5" pumps, cut very low with, for lack of a better phrase, toe cleavage. My toes hurt!!!! I don't mind heels of any height, but this cleavage crap is uncomfortable!!!!

message 248: by Kandice (new)

Kandice They aren't peep toes, which I HATE for the reason you stated. They are just cut super low. I have toe rings on both my middle toes, and they are cut low enough that you can see both of them. I think the problem is my toes want to bend out of the shoes! Does that make sense? They are beautiful shoes, though. Pearl grey, butter soft leather! Yummy, but torture!!!!

message 249: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Well I sure as heck wasn't going to wear them at home on my day off! It's worth it, though. He called me, asked if I had on the shoes, and after I answered in te affirmative, offerred to take me to dinner! (again, we just went Friday! what's going on?)

message 250: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Are you sure those aren't F- Me pumps that he got you? LOL. My boyfriend has shoe fetishes...it's kinda weird sometimes. I'm not really a shoe person.
