Now my question is how does the quality hold up as the series progresses? That is a lot of books for following one character, so I'm little skeptical of them being able to hold up to the standard I want. What are your favs?
Also.... what is the hunter's blades trilogy about?

Oh wow, thank you. You clearly know a bit about this. What do you think of all of them?? I've only read the first two. What should I expect?
What are the hunter's blade trilogy and the transistions set about?

And all of them are amazing except Spine of the World, that one isn't about Drizzt, neither is sellswords but that one is fun to read. SotW is about Wulfgar and you have to read it to understand but it's SOOOOO draggy and boring.
I don't know that I want spoilers.... I was just a little worried about the series holding up when you start going into that many books written. A lot of times a series gets worse the more it goes on, I'm really hoping that doesn't happen.
I don't know... I thought it was going to happen after the hunter's blades trilogy. But Transitions just made it sooo much better!
There are five more stories the that go along with the Drizzt series, although I'm not sure where they fit in, the Cleric Quintet.
They fit in with Cadderly. The priest who Drizzt meets in... Paths of darkness? No, the last of Legacy of the drow.
got the Thousand Orcs and Lone Drow yesterday! *does happy dance* now I just have to finish reading 107 2-page copositions before I can start on my CURRENTLY READING list *sigh*
The Cleric Quintent actually is meant to be a stand alone series of 5 (if you're going to buy, just buy the big book with all 5 in it--much easier on the pocketbook). RAS meant to develop whole new characters and instead he brought Cadderly into the Drizzt series AFTER he wrote the quintet.
I ended up reading the series starting with the Icewind Dale trilogy. One of those where you pick up a book at a library book sale and you think, this looks cool. I then went back to the Dark Elf trilogy and read on from there. I appreciated learning more about Drizzt's past after reading it this way. It was almost more of an insight into the character by doing it that way.
When you guys catching up get to the Transitions series, please don't completely get thrown for a loop. It takes a bit to realize what the &*() is going on, but when you do, oh the possibilities!!!
So I dont have to read the Clerical Quintet before the Thousand Orcs? I hope Im not missing anything important. Everything else I read has been in chronological order as far as I can tell.Dark elf Trilogy

and now I started Thousand Orcs. Do I need to read the Sellswords first or can I get to it later?
Sellswords is kind of like Cleric Quintet. Except it came before Artemis got involved with Drizzt. Although I suggest reading it before you read Pirate King because... well,

it does get confusing but it is worth it sometimes.
Read the SellSwords Trilogy before you read the Transitions series. He introduces new characters in the Sellswords books that you will see again in Transitions. hope this is not too much of a spoiler.
Sorry. And I did think long and hard before I hit the post button, but I think there is a way to fix that, read Transitions first, spoiler undone.

Now that I finished the dark elf ones I go to the Icewind Dale books next, yes? I'll just check in here before I start each new group. lol

Finished Thousand Orcs and halfway done with Lone Drow. What's next? Thousand Orcs was just okay but Lone Drow has been pretty good!

Eliza--I read the Cleric Quintet after Hunters Blades and it was fine. I am with Brian, though, that you should read every scrap of the above books before getting into Transitions. It will make more sense as to what the hey is going on in the world.
I've read Homeland, Exile and am starting Sojourn. I am hooked on Drizzt, just love him. My question is what order do the next go in? It gets confusing for me because they are listed in different sets and have different names. I didn't think I was that slow... apparently I am. Ugh.
