I would like to see what others new to the group have to say about this question. :)

or have your reading habits changed over the year?

Jenny (starshinejen) I read every day. In the morning I like to read newspapers on the computer. I take a trip around the world - Australia, UK and USA - providing me with a range of views on what's happening. To read my books I need time where I can focus and enter the world created by the book. I can do this outside on the decking eating brekkie and whilst commuting to and from work. If the book really captures me I then look for any opportunity to snatch time to read. Unfortunately if I read in bed I usually fall asleep quite quickly. I only watch TV to keep Ken company - and selecting only those shows which interest me.

TinaNoir For as long as I can remember, I have always read everyday. However the quantity of it ebbs and flows. After college and before kids I could easily read approx. one mass market paperback per day. Easily.

When my kids were both really young, no way I could read a book a day. More like one book a week.

Now the kids are a bit older so my reading has gone up again. Also I have alternative formats to read with which have contributed to the amount that I read. For instance, I can work out with my ipod and listen to an audio book. Same deal with cleaning the house. My kindle has ratched up my reading as well. The novelty of the device has been a big reading spark.

I used to watch a lot of tv. But within the last year, my tv consumption has whittled to almost nothing. Nowadays I only have about three must see shows -- True Blood, Modern Family and Mad Men. Online activity has largely replaced tv for me. Goodreads is my most visited site and GR is more related to reading that to online activity, imo.

Chana | 5 comments I haven't had a TV for 20 years although we do have an old VHS player for kids movies. The computer has taken those hours that I might have used watching TV/movies. The only time I watch now is when I stay in a hotel, so it is pretty infrequent.

Jenny (starshinejen) Hi Tina - I'm with you and the iPod. I can now do the household chores without Bad Attitude as I put on the iPod and listen to either an audio book or talk radio (Aussie, American, English and Canadian). The iPod has made household duties bearable!

My goal is to read a book or two a week this year.
