Carrissa Bellehumeur | 10 comments The Hunger Games is a book that creates a strong female lead, and gets you emotionally connected early on. When Katniss volunteers for Prim, it makes you question if you were put in a similar position, would you be able to safe your younger sibling? Peeta is also a likable character who brings out the good in Katniss and keeps her grounded throughout the book. The part of the book before the Hunger Games starts really sets up the world that the characters are living in. The Hunger Games themselves makes it hard to put the book down because you want to know if Katniss and Peeta will make it through the grueling challenges. The love story is not overdone, and it is interesting to see how Katniss is putting on an act and Peeta is legitimately in love with her. The ending was a clever way to both end the games and start the beginnings of a full out rebellion. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves action, a love story, and dystopia books in general.
