Question about librarian status

If I post a quote out of my own book on the page of my own book, I should be able to correct/amend it. I can't even put the reference of the book in the quote.

I remember with earlier books I amended a quote (out of my OWN book) a few times. Call me conceited, but I consider myself to be an expert on quotes out of my OWN books.
I shouldn't have to apply for librarian status and then get 100 "likes" and then become a Super Librarian and then President of the US and Pope at the same time to get a #%@#! quote amended.
This is a lot easier on Shelfari.

Of course, if an author posts in the Quotes section of the Librarians group, about a quote from their book, their word would be sufficient to get the quote edited.
(From other users, not the author of the book, a source would be preferred. The author is their own source.)

Still doesn't explain how I could, just a few months ago, change/amend/correct a quote repeatedly, and now I can't anymore.
This quote has as yet no likers (except for myself) as it is new.
Actually, the only thing for now I want to do is:
a) Indicate who is speaking
b) attribute the quote not only to myself, but to the book where it is taken from as well.
Thank you for the link, but I still think I should be able to do this myself without all the hassle. Furthermore this requires me to join a group I have no interest in... just to have a quote amended.
I don't think I will use this "function" anymore. It isn't worth it.

If you need help with any of that, a post in the Librarians Group will get you all the help you need.

I'm not sure what you mean by that exactly, but if you email support (at) goodreads (dot) com with more details, we'll look into it.

I wanted to add a new book to an existing series: couldn't do it.
I want to edit a quote out of this book: can'..."
Right. And I don't like their actions without warning, deleting my books etc. I am new here, a translator. Wrote to some librarians letters, but they don't care to answer. Teenagers are librarians. Ridiculous.

Since you are the translator on many of them, not the primary author, they will not appear on your dashboard. However, the books are all still listed on Goodreads, and can be seen on your author profile. (The only books that were deleted were those in which multiple identical editions had been added. Those were merged, which preserves all reviews and ratings.)
The vast majority of our librarians, of all ages, are carefully following Goodreads guidelines and policies. If you feel that a librarian is not following policy, please email support (at) goodreads (dot) com with as many details as you can, so we can look into the issue.
Edit: Also, non-book items like newspaper articles do not belong on Goodreads and will be deleted.

Thanks for the response. I own the copyright to this book. If I no longer want it posted on the Goodreads site, you are telling me I can't remove it? I did not publish it on Goodreads nor is it for sale on Goodreads.

I also failed to mention earlier that this Edition has been unpublished on Goodreads and can no longer be read by anyone so why would you want it listed on your site? It no longer exists. I simply want to remove it from my dashboard. February Edition of My Husband's On Facebook by Richard Parise

Users who have already purchased them may still wish to shelve and review them. There are also existing reviews and ratings.

Thank You for the response. Let's hope no one cares to purchase it since they will be unable to find it anywhere since it has been unpublished at Amazon. I was simply trying to save our members the frustration of searching for something they won't be able to find. I would think you would also want to make the experience on your site less aggravating by removing such unreadable material. Who cares about ratings on books that no longer can be read??

I understand you, Etta, I feel like that in spite of rivka's pains to explain. Strange feeling indeed.

It depends, but some who cannot spell the author's name, are not good. I suppose so. Of course, some oldies are not clever, too, I agree.

This is very annoying.
