Nope, there are people who monitor it, but they are just folk like you or me; not experts in the field. This is why at university you are never allowed to reference wikipedia, even though most tutors agree it is an excellent place to start when researching something - the trick is to question everything, and double check before rushing off to tell people this unbelievable fact you've just read, or you may look a bit of a ninny!
