Okay, so after complaining about feeling stuck, I seem to have gotten back in the game a bit. Enough that I just realized I'm 40% of the way there! Wow, I think that's better than years past. My fave book so far this year has been I Am Half Sick Of Shadows.

How are you doing so far and do you have any good ones to recommend?

Emily I actually have read 25 books already (not sure how that happened), so I upped my challenge to 70.

Favorite books so far:
The Art of Fielding
Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim (audiobook as read by the author)
A Storm of Swords
Wonderstruck

I'm actually ahead right now!! Of course, I can only blame this on the fact that I'm reading SO MANY graphic novels and they go by a little faster for me. Not to say they're too easy--I'm enjoying the plots of these far more than the novels I've read so far this year.

I'm also working on cleaning up some of the books I had started and never finished, and I'm doing really well with that.

Favorites so far?
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (all 6 books)
The Sandman (I've finished books 1 and 2)
Sweet Tooth
I really haven't read any novels that I've loved.

I just started Stephen King's 11/22/63 and I'm so hooked right now. I'm also eagerly anticipating the release of the new Dark Tower book.

Lindsey, just want to comment that I LOVE the Sandman series. Hope you enjoy the rest of it as much as I did.

Kristin | 221 comments I've read 17, happy to be on pace for 50. Favorites have been Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter and Running the Rift.

Faye, I just finished I Am Half Sick Of Shadows today. Loved it, it's my favorite Flavia mystery so far.

Tim Weakley | 396 comments I'm ahead of where I thought I would be as well. I gave myself a lower goal this year because I almost lost half my sight at Christmas time. Now I'm 12 books ahead of where I should be! Woohoo

Well this is my first challenge & I've read 25 books so far! So that's, what, 8 ahead of where I need to be to keep on pace? I'm pretty proud of myself so far. I haven't really gotten into any ruts yet that were too bad. (Knock on wood) My last book of only 288 pages did take me 11 days to finish, though :/

My favourites so far have been:
The Hunger Games (whole series)
A Dog's Purpose
Poughkeepsie
Captain Blood: His Odyssey (a re-read but still a favourite since I first read it 6-ish years ago)

Jason Baldwin-Stephens | 156 comments Hi All,

I'm about 1/2 way to my goal right now.
As to the best I've read so far this year:
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides

Another book that I greatly enjoyed was, The Evangeline Heresy by Thayer Berlyn

Jana (libraryladyjana) I am WAY behind on my 50 for the year. Unfortunately for 2 months all I read were text books...do those count???

Text books totally count :) In fact, you should probably get some sort of bonus points.

message 11: by Susan (new)

Susan (susanthomas) | 257 comments I'm new to the challenge this year, but I'm slightly ahead on a pace to read 50.
Favorites so far:
The Paris Wife
The Buddha in the Attic
Before I Go To Sleep: A Novel
And several Nordic Noir selections.

Alex tizzard | 50 comments This is my first year doing the challenge. I'm on book 18 which is pretty on point. So far, I've really liked Columbine, Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption, Unbearable Lightness: A Story of Loss and Gain. It just occurred to me that these are all non-fiction. I thought I was a die hard fiction girl. I guess I learn something new everyday :)

Happy reading!

I can't really put then down right now. Between that and Doctor Who (on Netflix) my time is well-spent.

Erika | 85 comments I'm only 1 book ahead in my challenge, so i'll try not to let it fall.

My favorite book so far is Lord of The Silver Bow by David Gemmell, it's the first book in the Troy trilogy, actually i loved the whole trilogy but the first one is my favorite of the three :)

message 15: by Jana (new)

Jana (libraryladyjana) Faye, I think I will count the text books as extra! lol

message 16: by Tom (new)

Tom Torkelson Hi everyone,
I just finished #25, so I think I'm going to try and get into some longer, heavier reads.
My favorites so far this year have been:
Gone for Good by Harlan Coben
To Kill a Mockingbird
and Solo Faces: A Novel by James Salter
I also set some special goals within the 50 books to get me out of my typical genres and into new terrain. Check out my progress.
