ABANDONED. Woman named Clover who wants to change her name to Clovis

All I can really remember about this book waas that the main character's name was Clover becuase her mom was a hippie, but now that she's older she wants a more respectable name and wants to change it to Clovis. I remember that she is talking to her husband about it, and he's kind of indifferent about it. I thought it was the Handmaid's Tale, but I re-read that and it definately wasn't. Any ideas?
