You will love it here on TNBBC! I also noticed there aren't many books in Dutch. I think for now I only added some books of Renate Dorrestein en Jos van de loo.
Hi Marlien, age is nothing to be shy about... we welcome all new members... and Im sorry to hear you cant find the Dutch books youve read, but wow, its so cool that you can read mulitple languages.... I wish I could read some of my favorite novels in their original forms......
Welcome to the group!
Welcome to the group!
Hi marlien. Welcome and happy reading.

@ Lori: Actually, I read most books in Dutch, because it's quite hard to find the English version of most books in my city. I don't even try to buy german books in the original form, it's impossible.

I live in Alkmaar, by train about 45 minutes north of Amsterdam

I am 63 and live in Kansas but I see we have the book Special Topics in Calamity Physics in common. I just finished it yesterday and loved it!! I think it is the best book I have read in a long time.

so now I've joined this group I should introduce myself before posting anywhere else, I guess.
My name is Marlien, I'm a 17-year-old (yes I'm still very young) girl from the Netherlands. It's a small country in Western Europe, across from the UK and our capital is Amsterdam.
I joined Goodreads because I thought it would be a good way to keep track of the books I read and have read, and because discussing books with other people appealed to me as well.
Currently, I still haven't finished adding books to my read bookshelves because I keep remembering (and forgetting) books, which is exactly the reason I joined :) At this moment, my favourite books are The Edible Woman and Special Topics in Calamity Physics. Being from the Netherlands, I also read a lot of Dutch books, but sadly a lot of these don't appear on goodreads (probably because they were never translated).
Besides reading, other things I like are horses, ballroom dancing, cooking, and japanese anime and manga.
I'm looking forward to talk with you :)
Marlien
PS: Merry christmas and a happy new year!
