Nan | 7 comments I was a kid and cried a lot after the ending. I was hoping that after the credits Jack would appear. :P

lol! What was worse for me was Romeo + Juliet, which came out the year before. I went to see it with my best friend, and she was still sobbing about it an hour after it finished. As we were in the middle of a shopping mall it was pretty embarrassing!

I was smack bang in the middle of the target audience for Titanic when it came out in the mid-90s (I was just finishing high school). I had *all* the merchandise. In fact, I still have a book of Titanic posters I never used because I didn't want to damage them!

The people who made the movie should know that you either kill both your leading characters (like in Romeo and Juliet) or you save them both! Doing the West Side Story ending didn't work for me.

Ipshita (miss_romanceaholic) | 1031 comments I was 3 years old when my parents took me along with them to watch Titanic. Incidentally, I remember having a big packet of chips in the theater. I think I still remember it even now cause that is my earliest recollection of seeing such a big screen and plus the chips were really tasty. :D

message 107: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) Lol the best thing about going to see the movie for you Ipshita are the chips! Lol

I was a high school freshman when Titanic came out, and I remember all the hoopla that went along with it. My 2 closest friends at the time went to see it multiple times (I lost count how many times). And I kept thinking to myself, why the heck are these people seeing it a bazillion times.

I guess I'm in the minority in not having the need to keep going to the theaters to watch it. Makes me feel like I'm a weirdo or something lol

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14527 comments I will readily admit the special effects were great. But the story itself was a downer.

Ipshita (miss_romanceaholic) | 1031 comments I don't really like tragedies anyway. But I really liked the names Jack and Rose.

message 110: by R.C. (new)

R.C. Matthews (rcmatthews) | 271 comments I hated the end of Titanic. There was enough room for BOTH of them on that door!!!! Why couldn't it be HEA? I was balling my eyes out the whole time the ship was sinking. The scene with the old couple lying in bed together, holding each other, ready to die in each others arms really broke my heart. The best thing about the whole movie was the Celine Dion song :-).

message 111: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Yes, I agree, there was room for them both. It was such a tragedy; so sad.

message 112: by Nan (new)

Nan | 7 comments Such sad ending. They fought so much to be together and then...pff. End.

""A woman's heart is a deep ocean full of secrets."

message 113: by N.D. (new)

N.D. Taylor (ndtaylor) | 5 comments Tragic endings to great romances make me feel sad. It's gotten to the point where I rewrite the endings in my head and pretend that's what really happened. Titanic is one of them.

In my world, Rose and Jack sailed off together. The End.

message 114: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments I've rewritten some book ending, too. LOL! Must be the hopeful romantic in us, N.D.
