lol! What was worse for me was Romeo + Juliet, which came out the year before. I went to see it with my best friend, and she was still sobbing about it an hour after it finished. As we were in the middle of a shopping mall it was pretty embarrassing!
I was smack bang in the middle of the target audience for Titanic when it came out in the mid-90s (I was just finishing high school). I had *all* the merchandise. In fact, I still have a book of Titanic posters I never used because I didn't want to damage them!
The people who made the movie should know that you either kill both your leading characters (like in Romeo and Juliet) or you save them both! Doing the West Side Story ending didn't work for me.

I was a high school freshman when Titanic came out, and I remember all the hoopla that went along with it. My 2 closest friends at the time went to see it multiple times (I lost count how many times). And I kept thinking to myself, why the heck are these people seeing it a bazillion times.
I guess I'm in the minority in not having the need to keep going to the theaters to watch it. Makes me feel like I'm a weirdo or something lol
