The movie leaves out lots of detail, but it is still a good film. I think having read the story, I could then fill in the gaps and make up for story-line deficits. I thought Effron did a brilliant job of playing Logan's character, the character that absolutely makes the story for me!
Overall, I recommend reading then watching the story - it is such a good story - I'm glad I got all those details the first time around and have an in-depth version as a base.

I saw it a few weeks ago. Loved the book. The movie was great as well. But I love all his books and movies.
I read the book and saw the movie and liked them both. I don't expect movies to be exact copies, yes there were some things changed but the overall story was the same. I always pictured the characters as young since Elizabeth got pregnant in high school. So to me, Zac didn't seem to young for the role. I thought he pulled it off well and I think he would be good in more serious roles.
I saw the movie and thought it was pretty lame. Zac was not fit for the part, he was not convincing as Logan.
Honestly, I did not care for the movie. It was not worth the $8 I paid to get in. I think the movie could have had more of the book content (like the first time Logan meets Keith, etc.) without making the movie too long or boring. I liked the book much better even as predictable as it was.
I saw the movie, it was different than the book. But the casts are great. I like the movie too.
The movie was very good! I'd definitely recommend going to see it!
They didn't make any huge changes eiher, which is good. The ONLY thing that I'd thought would be in the film but wasn't was they never mention the guy that told Logan to go searching for Beth when they were fishing. i wish they'd included that.
But other than that.... it was amazing!
Good performances, good setting.
GO see it :)

I liked the movie bur thought they added some things that weren't even in the book. Anyone agree? don't worry that added detail doesn't ruin the movie.
It's worth it. Good story, great characters, exciting and will get you to read the book.(which is so much better)
I haven't read the book yet, so i don't know about a comparison between the 2, but i loved the movie! i went into it with alot of skepticism because i thought my IQ might go down just a little, but i was pleasntly surprised, it was a very good movie.
I went to check out ‘The Lucky One” in theater. I already read the book(I generously gave it a 3/5 on goodreads). I thought the book was a nice typical Nicholas Sparks love story i.e. very predictable. I figured I would go and see the movie anyway because who can say no to a little Zac Effron (he is gorgeous in this movie by the way…those eyes!) The movie is very different from the original story; you can see they have the same backbone, but much of the story has been changed to relate better on the big screen. I felt that the movie lacked some of the things I liked in the book, but a steamy shower scene made it worth the $12. Obviously the critics didn’t think much of the movie because it only got a 20% rating on rotten tomatoes, but I think that people will enjoy the cute story. It’s not going to win any academy awards, but it was fun nonetheless.

LOVE ANYTHING NICHOLAS SPARKS :P i wanna see the movie so bad, but i read the book and it was great!
I loved the movie, and I thought the casting was great. Definitely worth seeing!!!
I didn't like it. The photograph didn't even match the description they gave in the book which made me mad.
I can't wait to see the movie! I think it will be much better than the book. I can do without reading every thought the ex husband had about his ex wife and about women in general. In a movie you don't have to read those things! I heard it's a great movie!
I saw the movie on Saturday and it was good, but not as good as the book. I still enjoyed it though and definitely recommend everyone go see it :-)
Going to see it tonight! :) I read it yesterday! I'll let ya know what I think.
I may see it. I'm skeptical based on what I've heard. I also am wondering if the casting is off - doesn't Zach Efron seem young for this part. I guess I envisioned both main characters being a little older.
The curiosity always makes me want to see the movie adaptations of the books that I've read. I always wonder whether hollywood's interpetation matches mine.
Yeah! Zac Effron is HOT in it..and i dont go for cradle snatching!
I also read the book when it first went out. And when the movie came out a girlfriend and I went to see it. I enjoyed the movie and thought it followed the book pretty closely. But lets face it, things have to be shortened in order to fit into a movie sequence. But I think it was well worth seeing if you like a love story.
Zac Efron is soooo attractive! I did feel that the girl who played Beth didn't fit the role very well, but nonetheless, the movie was good. Although, i must add, i hated how they left out the part from the book where Zues saves Ben in the end.
I really enjoyed the book, but I didn't enjoy the movie.
It was OK but there were many parts left out, and I felt some of the actors weren't the best.

I thought the movie was pretty good. I usually am not a fan of books made into movies, but I would reccomend this one. I think Zac Efron did a great job & looked HOT!
I have yet to see it and I loved the book!!!!! I am going to wait to get it one DVD.
I saw the movie. its not as good as the book but it is worth seeing
THE MOVIE SUCKED, it was the worst movie that I have ever seen... It made me like the book even more!! DO not waste your time or money.
As a stand alone film i will say it was a easy watch and i enjoyed it.
But as always it's not as good as the book.

I always forget details about books, so for the most part, most movies can change without much stress on my part.... All N.S. have the same kind of feel, and are predictable.... just like Danielle Steele, very predictable. Enjoyable nonetheless.

I loved the book and then went to see the movie. I really like the movie as well. There were some changes in the movie, but not huge.
I didn't like their choice of Zac Efron for Logan. He seemed too young and to much of a pretty boy.

BOOK IS SO MUCH BETTER!!! but the movie is really good the ending was the best part and I really wish it was in the book it would have made it just that much better.
When I enjoy a book so much I hate to spoil it by seeing the movie soave not seen it yet
The movie was really good, but the book was WAY better! I think you should watch it anyway.
I saw it, and thought it was OK... but the acting wasn't as good as I'd hoped. Book was MUCH better.
The book is so much better than the movie! But the movie isn't really all that bad. They are both beautiful but like always books win.
my turn off is Zach Efron, I don't mind him as an actor, but I saw previews with him full of smiles and kinda "carefree" and I see Logan more as that calm, cool, mysterious character, but will rent it when it comes out.
I didn't like the movie!
I think the actors didn't give justice to the characters and it was too "swallowed" if I can say!
but compared to the last song movie, this one was better

I saw the movie last night. So much of the book was left out, but then that always happens, doesn't it? The scene where the jerk of a sheriff is taking pictures of the nude sun-bathers is left out, and that part sets up so much of the story. Still, I did like the movie. Zac Efron played Thibault very well. I would have liked to have seen Zeus save the little boy, like in the book. But it didn't happen.
I saw the movie opening night and was relieved that Hollywood did not curropt the book too much merely left pieces out, the x spying on the girls at the beach nothing that detracted from the story too much! Glad I saw it!
