!632 by Eric Flint is a good read. It, in my opinion, equals L. Sprague de Camp's Lest Darkness Fall.

I agree. I've also liked the rest of the series. There is just so many story lines in this series.

I read 1632 and 1633 a few years ago but decided to retread them in the order Eric Flint recommends. I'm reading the first Ring of Fire book right now. It's definitely easier to follow the story lines this way.
The whole Ring of Fire series is great. Yes there are many story lines contributed to by many different authors. I have just purchased 1635: The Papal Stakes, the follow up to Cannon Law and can't wait to start it. Also in the world are the Grantville gazettes, a series of e magazine's which cover a wide range of topics contributed by the readers. A good way to access the world.
1632 was a great read... I liked the characters and found the whole thing a lot of fun...
Just started reading the paper version of Grantville gazette V. Found out now the differenc ebetween the electronic version and the paper version. With GG1-4 or I to IV the paper version was a reprint of the electronic version but includes a new short story from Eric Flint.Because the electronic version proved so popular it is produced bi-monthly and a decision has been taken to produce a paper version including the best stories from a number of the electronic versions issues 5 to 11 for GGV plus a new story from Eric Flint. So if you want the complete story you need to buy both the electronic version and the paper version.
Hope that helps everyone.
