Well... I don't think people are complaining that they don't like the YouTube show, they just don't like that they can't download it.

never underestimate the power of someone wearing librarian glasses saying "Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

of course, why not just watch it on youtube on your mobile device in the first place?

Bandwidth and signal quality. I'm on a limited plan (2 GB a month which I never come close to hitting but I don't stream much of anything over 3G) so I'm always worried about overages. Also, where I work there is very little 3G signal, so even if I weren't worried about bandwidth, there is little chance I'd get signal to stream a show reliably.

I use the Firefox add-on, and it lets you choose between many options for the format (although it doesn't seem to work on a few videos).
I definitely like the show, and I'm not complaining about it. But I know that if I can't put it on my ipod, I'll probably forget to watch it on a regular basis. The same for all the other (not as great as S&L, but still pretty great) Geek & Sundry shows.
One nice thing about the firefox add-on is that downloading with it does seem to register as a view on a youtube (at least it registers as "watched" on my subscriber page) - so for the sake of both ratings and ad-views, I don't think it hurts youtube or S&L/G&S.

Thanks very much for the information. While I really like the idea of the video show, and watched the first one, I always listen to S&L while commuting - and that makes watching a video difficult AND illegal. So having a way to grab the videos as MP3s so I can listen to them while I'm driving is perfect.

This site will reap the audio from any Youtube video and download locally to your PC. You only have to give permission to a java applet and to the download.
Step by step:
First, you copy the url of the video you want to reap in the site:

Then your internet browser will ask you if you want to let Java run (run it):

After a few seconds the site will show you the title of the video and the download options, normally you'll only have MP3, but some times you'll see flac and other formats:

Finally, you only have to chose where do you want to save the file.
(This will count as one person watching the video.)
I tested this using Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows 7 and I didn't have any security problems, but remember DO NOT CLICK ANY FLASH BANNERS!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
