I'm Looking for a Book on........

Clay Blair wrote a two book set on the U-boat actions in the Atlantic and one of the US actions in the Pacific. These are weighty books, both figuratively in the amount of information they provide and in reality in how thick they are. There is also Operation Drumbeat which is about the U-boats attacking the US shores.

A good book on the siege of Malta is; "Fortress Malta: An Island Under Siege, 1940 - 43" by James Holland.

For Italian aces I'd check some of the Osprey titles.

Thank you!

my Library has neither. It does have
A cold corner of hell; the story of the Murmansk convoys, 1941-45.
Battle in the arctic seas : the story of convoy PQ 17
Or
The ghost ships of Archangel : the Arctic voyage that defied the Nazis
Read any of those?

I loved the book Iron Coffins

James Holland's book is very good!

This is a great free paper on the german uboats. It explains how they dealt with faulty torpedo for the first couple years of the war. It makes you wander how the outcome of the naval war would have been different if the germans had working torpedos. They missed some big opportunities to sink royal navy capital ships.

The book, based on real events, is Sailor's Heart.
HMS Standard (Kielder Camp) in NE England, was where 842 men who had broken down at sea were received and "processed" between 1941-1944. Some men were never returned to duty.
The remains of HMS Standard now lie at the bottom of Kielder Dam, after the valley was flooded.

Hi Conner. AR's recommendation of James Holland's book on Malta is spot on--fantastic book.
As for Italian aces, there are a few Osprey titles dealing with the subject, but here's a different one you might find interesting:

I'm getting ready to read the third volume in Ian Toll's Pacific War Trilogy and so far the first two have been excellent:

Another excellent trilogy is Rick Atkinson's Liberation Trilogy dealing with the U.S. Army in Europe and the Mediterranean:

If you're looking for a Pacific counterpart to Atkinson's work, then this trilogy by John McManus is for you:

Check out this book Connor:

Once you read those and feel like some heavy lifting, Schiffer Publishing has multi-volume sets for both JG 3 and JG 53.

Couldn't find too much, but maybe these, Darya:

The first one seems to be the right one

Here are a few:

You might like to try Hitler's Ghost Ships (G H Bennet) as well.

Picking up on this, I would really like to know more about the East Africa slave trade and the RN's role in suppressing it. Any thoughts?

You might try this one as well:

So this is an article but it has some books listed at the end. The mostly seem to be in English but it might be a place to start looking

Here is the only book I found in my search that was in Korean, not specifically on the Eastern Front

No worries, thanks for the response!

Thanks! I'll follow some of these links and see where the internet wormhole takes me.

Good luck, I hope you find what you're looking for.

Hello. I have been searching for an English-language biography about the WWII era Soviet Marshal, Semyon Timoshenko. The only thing I've found so far is a panegyric from 1942 by Walter Mehring, an obvious propaganda piece. But there's nothing I can find along the line of Stalin's General about Georgi Zhukov.
Anyone have any suggestions?
