book counter

I have read more books than on my counter. I have put them all on the shelve cover to cover and made sure they all had dates of read? Bit still it is only showing half! Can anyone help. I went to my list and reside the ones that are missing and still nothing. I am reading one to two books per day. Thanks for the help

how many books have you read this year? are they on your read shelf? according to it, you have read 105 books, but only 23 of them have completion dates attached

I have 32 total i went back and tried again to update the dates and it does not save them. I only have internet on My phone so maybe i will have to wait to do it on an actual computer. Thanks for the help.

that would probably be best...there are some bugs in the system from the most recent update that they did, so that could be affecting it as well

I just joined the group but I already have 11 books read this year. It doesn't look like it is showing in my counter. Is that because the books were added to my 'read' list before I joined this group? Any idea how to get those 11 books counted in my total?

are you talking about the counter within the group for your challenge goal? if so, then you need to designate a specific shelf that you want counted and make sure you put books on that shelf, with the read date filled it. Your GR challenge counter (for the entire site) is showing your 11 books

Dee, Yes the counter within the group. Do I need to create a new shelf for the read books? instead of the 'read' shelf? Will my GR challenge counter work the same? I'm new to the site so I'm still working through the processes. Thanks

yes, the GR challenge works that same...that measures only your read shelf...the group challenges, you can specify what shelf you want books on to count ;)

I also have to go into my cover to cover challenge and click "view books" for it to count mine.

it will update once a day, but if you want to have it updated then and there (like me), you can do a forced update

Ok I have created my shelf in this group...how do I add my books to it?

All good I worked it out...now another question, can I add books I have already read this year?

yes you can ;) just go back to those individual books, and you can edit shelves that they appear on

you have dates attached to the books that you read right?

@Renee - there is a bit of a cache issue when it comes to the updates - they only update the counters automatically once a day, but you can do a forced update which is what clicking on the view books does

I am sorry that I haven't been keeping up this month but I just enrolled for classes and won't be able to read much till Jan. But I am still reading my current book and will continue to attempt to reach my first 50.
