Angela A find of mine turned me onto this author, and I thought a British author, of boy, but I fell in love with the Charlie Fox series and they are good, very good in fact, I am just waiting to get a hold of her latest book

Patrick Fox I discovered this book by chance, and I am so glad I did. I'm throughly enjoying the book and I'll be reading more of Zoë Sharp's work in the future.

K, Nz I started the series with the third or 4th book, and really like the way that Zoë Sharp writes. I appreciate how Charlie has many challenges and grows as a character, as well as stories that mean that I've found it very hard to put one of her books down when I start it, and I've re-read them several times (unusual for me). It was slightly weird to then read the 1st in the series, though great to be able to put the background into context - made the reading of later books much richer.

Nicholas Read the first only. Wanted to enjoy it much more than I did, I'm sorry to say. Was looking for an inspiring female lead, but found Charlie disappointing somehow.

Should I try some more?

It depends on what "kind" of inspiring female lead you are looking for - Charlie is a very flawed and tormented sole, but develops and matures as the books go on - she still takes quite a beating throughout the books, but to me that doesn't take away from her character. I've read all the Charlie Fox books now and must say they are really good books - lots of action, lots of twists and turns - good reads!

Sorry, that was a pretty woolly comment. What I meant was that I found Charlie to be less dynamic than I had hoped and more reactive than proactive. However, I've been wrong before about characters I've ended up loving :) I'll try some more. Thanks for your reply :)

IMO, Charlie is a great character- not flashy, but very determined and terribly flawed and if you are looking for HEA (happily ever after) I don't think you will ever find that with Charlie, she doesn't live in that type of world. Do keep reading and watch her character grow, IMO she does come into her own and she does start to build more confidence in her self and in her job.

K, Nz Hi Nicholas,

I suggest trying the next one in the series, as I mentioned earlier it was the one I started with. There are aspects of each book that I like, by 'Die Easy' she's definitely proactive :)

K.

No, not looking for HEA, but yes, did want to see a bit more confidence from her. But, I am convinced by your enthusiasm and off to try number 2.

Thanks again :)

K, Nz Oh do, I really liked 'Road Kill' too, and 'Third Strike' really interesting family dynamics.
There's real depth in the books in my opinion and definitely not HEA, more hanging on a knife edge....
Would love to know what you think.

K.

John Hancock I like all her books. I think "Road Kill" was one of the best, and "Second Shot" is also very good.
Sharp is excellent at believable suspense and action, and you identify with Charlie, especially as the books progress. IMHO

Suchi this was my first book, i enjoyed reading it. will be reading the next in the series. Charlie was a very down to earth character
