Did it live up to your expectations? Did It exceed them? Were you happy with the casting choices?

Jeremiah (jer_bear) | 2 comments I read the entire series last October and was super stoked for the movie. But I found that the actual film barely met my expectations. I didn't like that they didn't show the hovercraft picking up the dead tributes from the arena. I didn't like that they got lazy with the "muttations" towards the end of the movie. Catching Fire was my favorite book of the series so let's hope it's a MUCH better movie!

Overall i enjoyed the movie (even though they missed loads out)i also liked the casting and set/costume design. I can't wait to buy the DVD!

Maria (mariareads37) | 1 comments I enjoyed the movie. It was a good book to movie adaption. The casting was great. Jennifer Lawrence was exactly how I pictured Katniss as. The problems I had with the movie was the shaky cam and we didn't see Katniss starve while in the area. Did anyone else wish it was rated R, so that we can actually see the deaths. It could have also eliminated lots of the shaky camera scenes.

Emily V (xemilyx) | 12 comments I thought it should have been at least a 15. I'm not a fan of gore but more was needed, it's the hunger games not a Disney film so gore is okay.

Shawn I thought the movie was good. There were a few things they cut out/changed from the book that kind of disappointed me. One of these parts I can think of now is the part in the book where Katniss and Peeta are hunting and Peet is making a lot of noise and she makes him gather berries. In the movie they throw in some stupid joke from Peeta that took as much time as it would have if they started true to the book.

Little things like that bother me with movie adaptations.

Charlotte (charbooks) | 2 comments I loved it, I went at midnight. XD I guess the only thing I would have changed was the special effects, they could have been improved. But everything else was wonderful, the costume designers worked wonders. I know a lot of people didn't like the shaky cam, but I thought it added to the tone of the movie.

L I really do need to see the movie then! The books are at the top of my to-read list...are they on your bookshelf?

Tiffany | 2 comments I loved all 3 books. I was sooo excited for the movie. I know it left alot of parts out, but I was very pleased with the movie. I think they kept it close enought to the book. I was so surprised when they showed how she got the pin. But I guess if they kept every detail it would have been about 4 hours long!! And I sure would have sat through 4 hours too!! :P
I cant wait for the next one!

I have herd so much positive remarks regarding the film, and also the books...seriously recently there was a huge wave that washed over everyone (one that i am calling 'the hunger games craze'). It seemed to be everywhere and i cannot wait to read the books myself & see the film; the trailer is amazing!

Alysses (rumor_has_it) I thought the movie was ok but they changed to many key elements which makes me wonder how they're going to explain that stuff in the other movies. The books are really good. I didn't dig the first book too much but the second and third were awesome!

L Good to know :)

Veselina (vesinka_smiley) | 2 comments I just finished reading the books yesterday. Kinda late, I know, but better late than never, eh? And I also watched the movie online with not vedy good quality but I just couldn't wait for the DVD since I deliberatley missed the film while it was in the theatres. Just didn't want to see the movie before I'd read the books. And here's what I think - the books were amazing, this cannot be denied. I read them in a week, and mind you I still was working 8 hours a day, so that meant reading myself to sleep in the wee hours of the night. I love doing that! Especially with books so entrancing! I still cannot pick my favourite one of the trilogy, may be I will decide that when I re-read them, which would be soon, I assure you ;) But what I loved in all three of the books was the feeling of rush, how my stomached clenched, how my heart skipped beats or on the contrary - how it beat frantically... Everything in the books was just breathtaking!! And what about the movie? Well, I am not a person that judges the movies based on my favourite books. I neved did this with Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings or Twilight. And I won't do it with The Hunger Games. Of course there are things that are not how I imagined them. I knew that there will be parts of the book omitten in the movie. I knew that other things will be shown a bit differently. This is fine by me. Maybe the one thing that I really didn't like was the fact that the movie couldn't make me feel this rush that I felt while reading the books. I was indeed a bit safer in a way. The end was somehow not quite as how I pictured it. Why did they have to make it dark? In the book was bright killing sunlight. And the interviews - I wanted them to hug each other on this loveseat, but no. Anyway, if I continue, I will probably find other things too. But being the loyal fan that I am I'll stop now as for me it doesn't matter anyway. I'll get used to how they made the movie. I can't wait to see it on DVD next month. And of course I'll be impatiently waiting for the next two to come :))

L Dear Veselina,
Thank you so much for your insightful comments that many readers of the books & fans of the films will find most helpful and interesting. Also those like myself who have not read or seen either, can also take something from it...it is still on my to-read list & probably films to see list! x

Anna (SylviaGrant) | 47 comments To me Jennifer Lawrence didn't seem emotional enough when she leaves Prim and her mother and Gale behind however when she says goodbye and hugs Prim, she doesn't seem that emotional...as if she can't have any of her family see how heavy this blow is to her. Except that when Gale comes to say goodbye and hug her, she becomes weepy and clingy and tells him to take care of them. I would understand why she would tell him and not her mother but it just seems overly acted to me in a way.

Julie Rainey Okay, Hunger Games is on it's way in the mail and I'll be watching it tomorrow. Hope it's as good as all the hype that has surrounded it has said it is.

Julie Rainey Well, the movie was pretty good actually. I was kind of surprised. It was, however, extremely depressing. Kind of sucks the life out of you.

Depressing, oh dear! I did see an advert on TV yesterday about the film being released on DVD in shops. Do you think i should get it?

Julie Rainey It's a very unique story, at least to anything I've ever seen. I think it's worth it to watch. Just be prepared that little kids will kill others and die themselves. I realize it's fiction, but it's still a little...hard to take.

message 21: by L (new) - rated it 3 stars

L Yes, i see. I am however most intregued and hopefully will get to see it at some point.

Anna (SylviaGrant) | 47 comments I can't wait until Catching Fire!!!!!!!!! Philip <3

Julie Rainey I'm almost tempted to read the remaining two books to see what happens.

J.W. Ellis (jwellis) I adored the books, read all three in like 2 days, i couldnt put em down. Awesome writing.

The Hunger Games Movie was a good movie, i was upset with some of the changes but i understand its hard to turn books to movies, and to know what to cut and what to leave.

Jennifer Lawrence was an excellant Katniss, and Josh Hutchinson did excellant as Peeta, and i am ecstatic and dying from waiting for the next movie :)

I read the books and the movie was ok, on a scale of 1-100 i would say the book was 100% and the film was about 60%, so yeah, anything under 50% sucks :P

Julie Rainey I read the second and third books yesterday and the day before. It's been a long time since I've read a book that I literally could not (or did not) want to put down. They were wonderful.
