Good point. Also, from his perspective, all the children and their mothers should be in their respective heavens (depending on whatever religion they believed) and he's in the position to know that they are indeed 'in a better place' more than most people.

Christine - I thought the same thing about the author's gender and the careless way he's treating the children issue - I wonder if he has any children. I was shocked at the breezy way Atticus referred to having had 25 children and how he maybe will have some in the future. That seemed like the words of a person who has never even held a child in his arms. It almost seemed like he was talking about cars! Oh yeah...I had 25 cars when I lived in California and it's been difficult to have one lately but maybe I should have one soon. I mean, WTH?

I like Granuaile - I'm tired of seeing so many fucked up people in UF - so I like to see somebody centered for once.
