I think Luke in his Pods has noted (correct me if I'm wrong) an arousal of a personal need or obligation to write an orig. work if one is a long-time fan of the genre. "I can criticize, but can I put my money where my mouth is?" ... this sort of thing. Hence various writing projects commence.
If one is bothered by "How can I CREATIVELY contribute to Sci-Fi?" passions ... well, what we're doing here in cyberspace -- specifically, discussing and reviewing -- isn't any less important than original/personal projects. So, for SFBRP, I think that responsibility in and of itself generates ideas for better sci-fi with or without non-authors needing to add any more (i.e, orig. works). I may change my mind after reading your projects, Luke ;) But, frankly, I am as satisfied -- if not more so -- with discussions, reviews, and pods ABOUT sci-fi as I am with reading most sci-fi novels and stories. In fact I actively limit scifi novel reading so as not to spread myself too thin. YMMV, of course.
