michelle had just now noticed that something had happened, she had been spacing out before. she noticed a book on the ground a few feet into the trees on the edge of the road and knelt down to pick it up.

michelle examined the book with narrowed eyes. she looked up and saw something a little farther in the forest, stood, and started walking towards it.

there was a clearing not too far off, and it had stopped in the odd patch of light between the trees, though still hidden in the underbrush.
