Her steady gaze turned to a glare and she turned away before she snapped at him.

"What?" he laughed without humor. "Isn't it true?" He stopped and leaning his hands on the back of the couch.

"You shut me out," she muttered tonelessly, sitting with her knees curled up to her chest like it would hold her together.

Deep breath. "I mean... you've been here for ages, you know? I guess I kind of take it for granted. I was a kid when I met you, and somehow you already had feelings for me? That's a lot to take in. It's still a lot to take in. I don't understand the depth of it." She paused, biting her lip. "It doesn't... make sense to me still. I don't feel like I've changed. Just... gotten used to it. Like there was nothing to fall into. Sometimes I still feel like I hardly know you." She stopped and shook her head.

He took his hands off the couch and took a step back, listening to what she was saying. When she was done he was quiet, facing her but not really looking at her. "So it is my fault," he said quietly.
