"As always."
"So you weren't kidding about the emotions-thing, huh?" Ray asked, looking between the two of them.
"Why do you think I wouldn't do that?"
"So you weren't kidding about the emotions-thing, huh?" Ray asked, looking between the two of them.
"Why do you think I wouldn't do that?"
"I don't actually kid," he said matter-of-factly.
"Because you don't go after someone like her."
"Because you don't go after someone like her."
"Well, yeah."
"What do you mean it wasn't relevant? You go and work for someone else, don't even tell me who. Fucking Morgan le Fay. Go figure."
"What do you mean it wasn't relevant? You go and work for someone else, don't even tell me who. Fucking Morgan le Fay. Go figure."
"Then explain, please."
"You left before I had a chance to ask," he muttered, turning away from him and deciding to stare at the stove.
"You left before I had a chance to ask," he muttered, turning away from him and deciding to stare at the stove.
"I don't know how to explain," he replied, shrugging. "I just see your expression and I know what makes you tick."
"You stopped talking to me for days before I left," he shot back.
"You stopped talking to me for days before I left," he shot back.
"Uh-huh, okay."
"Which is why you get into trouble all the time," Edward told him.
"It was a lot to take in."
"Which is why you get into trouble all the time," Edward told him.
"It was a lot to take in."
He grinned mischievously. "Oh, let us tell them a story about one time I got into trouble."
"I didn't?"
"I didn't?"
"I've had enough story telling for one night. Why don't you?"
"And you don't. Listen, I don't want to talk about it right now," he said, turning back around, "We need to figure out what to do about...whatever."
"And you don't. Listen, I don't want to talk about it right now," he said, turning back around, "We need to figure out what to do about...whatever."
"Well, then, do please help me out if I get something wrong."
"No, you need to worry about doing your job," he countered, shaking his head as he collapsed on the couch again. "I'll worry about my shit."
"No, you need to worry about doing your job," he countered, shaking his head as he collapsed on the couch again. "I'll worry about my shit."
"Okay, okay."
"It's our job, James," he told him, "And we can't do it if there's a major threat. We'll just have to wait it out; or look for her."
"It's our job, James," he told him, "And we can't do it if there's a major threat. We'll just have to wait it out; or look for her."
"Oh, good." He thought for a bit, searching for a good one. "Was it me who read too much into an officer's expression and had them tailing me for days because they thought I was a person of interest and almost caught me here?" he asked, "Or was that someone else? Hmm... maybe it was me who was too caught up in a lady friend and got slapped for knowing too much... and being distracted."
"We won't find her unless she wants to be found."
"We won't find her unless she wants to be found."
He nodded. "Well, I remember one night in early summer. I suppose much like this one. I was in Washington D.C., I remember, which in retrospect was a terrible idea; I was the only one out past a certain hour."
"Thanks." He sighed. "Just let me think about it, okay?"
"Thanks." He sighed. "Just let me think about it, okay?"
((okay))
"It was a high-security night. Some bomb threat in the area or something. I was starting to think it was an episode of NCIS. Yes, I do watch television from time to time, don't bother with surprise."
"Hah. We'll see."

((XD i had to))
"So I was out walking, or hunting, whatever you'd call it--and I was stopped by a particularly snappily dressed officer."
"Good luck."

"Good luck."
"Naturally, out walking at three a.m., he thought I was out to get someone. I mean, I was, but I wasn't about to tell him that. And then I pointed out that he could be just as apt to be a terrorist as I was. Yep, spoke too soon. Needless to say, I was sure to disappear the next say." He leaned back, smirking. "I'm probably on all the federal watch lists. It's delicious."
James exhaled sharply and ran a hand through his hair, staring at the ground. What now?

"And you're not worried whatsoever?" Ray asked.
"Why should he be?"
((morgana: -peeks through window- heloooo. haha, just kidding.))
"Why should he be?"
((morgana: -peeks through window- heloooo. haha, just kidding.))
"They won't be able to find me as it is. And if anything, I could always... persuade them away from my trail."
((XDD what shall we do now with these two?))
((XDD what shall we do now with these two?))
"I can easily find out things that can be used to bribe or blackmail them."
((sure thing, sure thing))
James awoke to a terrible headache and the off sense that he'd never been in this room before. Panicking for just a split second, enough time to fall off the couch and onto the floor, he took a good look around the room and finally relaxed as he realized he was mostly safe. Mostly.

"Interesting."
Tom walked out of the room, dark bags under his eyes and a grumpy expression on his face. "Morning," he muttered, going to open the fridge until he realized they didn't have any food.

"Mmhm."
"Mmm," he muttered, nodding from where he was on the floor. "We need to go out and get something to eat."

"Would I have a reason to threaten you? I take it you've kept our friend Edward's secret safe all this time."
"Now or later?"
"Now or later?"
"Then what do I have to worry about?"
James sighed and got to his feet, somehow managing to put on shoes and getting his butt out the door.

"That's for me to know."
"Oh please, Ray."
"Shut up."
Tom shut the door behind him, squinting in the morning light. "Come on, I know a place," he mumbled, heading to the stairs.

"What if I don't want you to know? Theoretically, of course."
He mumbled something else and headed down the street, somehow making it across without getting hit by a car.

"I can still find out."
James almost had to run to keep up or not become roadkill, and he made it okay, swearing as he went.

"Always?"
Tom walked up to a diner with some of its windows boarded up, opening the door with a loud creak.
