"Oh, so I have to favor you now?"
((that sounds about right))
Tom sat up and squinted through the darkness to read the signs. "Take the next exit," he told James.

Tom sat up and squinted through the darkness to read the signs. "Take the next exit," he told James.
"Ouch," Ray commented, grinning.
"I can choose not to, sometimes."
"There should be a motel a mile from the exit. We can ditch the car and then walk."

"If someone's trying to manipulate my human talent to feel fear, I want to know why."
"You're doing that now? Check the trunk when we're parked," he said, taking the exit.
"You're doing that now? Check the trunk when we're parked," he said, taking the exit.
"It's not a talent."
"There's nothing here so far," Tom said, frowning, "Makes sense why he was sleeping in here. The guy's broke."

"But still, no."
When they slowed down, Tom hopped out of the car and headed to the trunk. "Hey, toss me the keys."

"Because I said so."
"That movie was great."
Tom caught it in mid-air and popped the trunk open. He looked through the contents, finding a flashlight, an umbrella, and several plastic bottles.

"It's with that actress, um, yeah."
"Your point, Ray?" Edward asked.
"There is none."
"That's not how you use a flashlight, James."
"Your point, Ray?" Edward asked.
"There is none."
"That's not how you use a flashlight, James."
"So what if I asked you, Ed?" Ray asked, leaning over the table and batting her eyelashes dramatically. He rolled his eyes and lightly pushed her face away.
"Keep dreaming."
"I wish I brought a bag."
"Keep dreaming."
"I wish I brought a bag."
"Are you trying to make me feel bad?"
"Eh, guess we'll have to carry this stuff. Let's bounce," he said, grabbing the plastic bottles and umbrella.

"How anticlimactic."
"Did I hear someone complain of being bored?" a new vampire hissed, slithering out of the shadows.
((why? because))
"One step ahead of you, man."

"Good choice. Or, if you're reeeally up for some fun, I can show you a place I know."
"So says you."
"So says you."
"I don't know if I trust you," Ray murmured, attempting a smile, "But thanks for the offer."
"I'm usually right."
"I'm usually right."
"Are you leaving?" Edward asked.
"Why would we ever do that?" a new voice piped up, female, from behind them. Edward grit his teeth and didn't look around.
"You know it's true."

"I thought you were dead," Edward hissed to the voice behind him.
There was a laugh, reminiscent of a cackle, from the woman. "Oh, no no no, I was given a second chance."
"Always."

"Still hanging around humans, I see, Edward," she said, finally coming into the light and circling the table.
She took the last available seat, leaning her arms on the table. Her long dark hair draped down her shoulders, creating a curtain that framed her pallid face. She smiled, her lips the color of blood, and revealed the points of two sharp fangs.
"They are much more likeable company than you two," he replied.
"Ouch."
Tom shook his head and Gibbs-smacked James in the back of the head. "Wrong answer."
