"Then why doesn't he believe me? He knows I wouldn't kiss someone else, right?" she asked, eyes wide.
"Well, considering your past history with a certain werewolf..." Edward put in.
"Edward!"
"Sounds like a plan."

"I don't even think James considered that. It's probably because he's known his friend for longer that he's there instead of here."
"Good."
"Good."
"Probably. I'm hoping for the best here."
"That looks like a place," he said, pointing to a nearby cafe.

"I'm sure he'll call soon."
Once they were seated, James dug in a pocket. "Hey, I'll be back in a sec. Phone call to make. Order for me if I take too long." And with that he was out of his seat, stepping back outside and dialing Ray's number without even looking.

"Hey, hey," he said, trying to be soothing. "It just means I can't be on vacation forever. I'll be gone for a month, tops, and then I'll be back as soon as I can. Okay?"
"You think all I did was go around killing people?" he joked, pretending to be offended. "There's more to it than that."
"Sorry," she sighed, "I just worry, you know? I don't want you to get into any sort of trouble."
