"Middle of Nowhere, Virginia," he replied, smirking.
"I trust you just fine. I just think you're leaving out vital information that a girl should know."
"I trust you just fine. I just think you're leaving out vital information that a girl should know."
"Well, that's where it is, but that's not what it's called."
"How did I know you were going to say that?"
"How did I know you were going to say that?"
He sighed as he breathed in the familiar salty, humid air. Looking around, he knew right where they were. "Well, this way home," he murmured, running a thumb across her hand and leading her down the sidewalk they were on.
"I know," she replied, tugging at the ends of her hair. Oh, great, that might just turn into a jittery habit.

"You haven't told me anything about your parents."
"Don't worry about it. It doesn't get crazy until the sun goes down."
"Don't worry about it. It doesn't get crazy until the sun goes down."
He laughed. "I guess I haven't. Good thing to know about."
"Crazy?" she asked uneasily, raising her eyebrows.
"Crazy?" she asked uneasily, raising her eyebrows.
"Well, my parents are a little eccentric. Dylan and Brenda, if you wanted to know their names. Dad's always on the run from the police for some reason for another and we don't really see a lot of him. But he brings in a lot of money. I think he might be a bank robber, but definitely not a serial killer. And Mom usually stays around the house when she's not crocheting everything under the sun onto a pillow. She's kind of normal, I guess. But then you have her former career of diamond smuggling and you'll think otherwise."
"I can't tell if you're trying to freak me out or play it off like it's nothing."
"I can't tell if you're trying to freak me out or play it off like it's nothing."
He laughed. "Difficult to do once you get there."
She laughed. "Good one. Sometimes I wonder whether or not you do," she teased.
She laughed. "Good one. Sometimes I wonder whether or not you do," she teased.
"We don't have to go. I don't want you to be uncomfortable with this."
He grinned and they came upon an ordinary looking building. All the windows were shut and some were even boarded up. The front door was also boarded up and a small alley led to a side entrance.
"Here we are."

"Here we are."
He smiled a little for her. "I'm just nervous, that's all."
"Here we are?" she echoed, looking around. "Is this some secret underground thing?"
"Here we are?" she echoed, looking around. "Is this some secret underground thing?"
"It's going to be okay," she reassured, squeezing his hand.
"You bet. Known only by few," he said and led her down the alley.

He sighed. "Yeah, I know," he replied, giving her a quick kiss. "Thanks."
"So then how does it go crazy, as you say?"
"So then how does it go crazy, as you say?"
She smiled. "Anytime."
"Well, remember when I told you about how I don't like to associate with the vampires of New York?"
"Well, remember when I told you about how I don't like to associate with the vampires of New York?"
He took a deep breath when they started walking up the stairs to his house. It was by no means impressive, although the outside was rather purple.
She peered at it. "I don't think I follow."
She peered at it. "I don't think I follow."
"I like the color," Ray commented, watching her step.
"It's a night club for vampires and the humans that dress as them," he explained.
"It's a night club for vampires and the humans that dress as them," he explained.
He laughed. "Mom made us all stay home from school one week to paint the whole thing. Said she was sick of the boring fugitive-looking color."
"That's... lovely. And we'll be going there tonight?" she asked, raising her eyebrows. She didn't think he'd have allowed such a thing.

She grinned. "Hey, why not?"
"I think its an experience you should all have. At least, until it goes too far."
"I think its an experience you should all have. At least, until it goes too far."
"Figured no authorities would suspect such a brightly colored house. She was going to go for pink, but my brothers and I begged her not to."
"What constitutes too far?"
"What constitutes too far?"
"I think so." He went to knock on the door because he felt out of place just opening the thing, even though the door opened a crack before he could do anything about it. "Oh, shit," he muttered to himself, rolling his eyes. "Good idea to stay back." He inched through the doorway and stopped just before a baseball bat would have knocked the wind out of him. He was so used to this, in fact, that he managed to grab the bat and twist it out of the supposed attacker's hands, a bored expression on his face. "Really, no challenge at all?"
He was pounced upon by a small blond girl. "James is back!" she called, and then scampered down the hallway, abandoning the bat.
"See?" James asked, turning back to Ray.
"Right."
