As Ray walked out into her hallway, she bumped into Jessica Rabbit on the way to the elevator.

Alex stared for a few seconds, and then promptly looked away, anywhere but at her. Yep, he's that kind of awkward.

"Morning. Where are you all headed so early?" the other asked, glancing at Alex momentarily and brushing her hair over her shoulder.

Alex held his breath and kept his eyes on the floor, secretly hoping her answer would be yes and no at the same time.

Everyone squeezed into the elevator. James laughed and Alex ended up leaning against the side wall, a little uncomfortable.

What followed next was a silence that was hanging on the edge of awkward. What broke it was the ding of the elevator as it pulled to a stop on the roof. Jessica moved out of the way of the door as it opened, bringing her a little closer to Alex, and then stepped out. Ray followed.

Alex took a deep breath and headed out as well. James had caught on and gave him a sympathetic look.
