james looked up at rayana. emotion flitted across his face for an instant as he was about to say something, but decided against it, and the mask was back. "nothing," he muttered. "lets go."

Rayana narrowed her eyes slightly, then looked at the rest of them.
"Yeah...where are we going to go?"
"It was your idea to go to Jersey." Edward pointed out.
"Yeah...but..." she said, but could not think of a good comeback.

michelle struggled not to laugh. "there a hotel, something?"

"Where are you going?" Rayana asked him.
"Best Western." he called back over his shoulder.

Rayana nodded and began following Edward. James' attitude, however, was making her feel akward. Was he...jealous? She laughed mentally at the thought. Kyle and her were only friends. Best friends, yes...but they didn't like eachother that way.

james sighed, and settled on following, as that was the only thing he could do.

Edward turned a corner and toward the hotel.

Rayana heard her phone beep and she looked at it. It was a text from Kyle:
Heya! What hotel are you going to?

How did you know we were going to a hotel? she texted back

Like before, Edward paid for them and got two room keys. He gave one to Michelle and took the other one.
"We can take the elevator this time" he said to Michelle and winked at her.

"I for one, am taking the stairs" Rayana said, finally feeling the boost of energy from the coffee she had gotten this morning.

Edward shrugged.
"Suit yourself...we're going to the fifth floor"

not having heard this exchange, james took the stairs.

Rayana ran up the stairs, managing to reach the fourth floor before all her energy disappeared. She sat on one of the steps and waited while she caught her breath.

james bounded up the stairs lightly, and eventually he got to where rayana was. he frowned, but he had to ask. "its the fifth floor, you know." okay, that wasnt exactly asking, but whatever.

Rayana went up the stairs, but then looked back down at him.

Shannon looked up at him. "If you're a figment of my imagination, that means I can get rid of you, right?"
Rory looked hurt. "You want me to leave you? No one else is here to spend time with you. And you know you start to talk to yourself when you're by yourself. We don't want that now, do we?"
She looked away. "I don't know..."
He turned her face to look back at him. "Do you really, truly want me to leave? Because I will, if you really want it."
She was silent. "I...I want..."
"Yes...?"
She bit her lip. "I don't want to have to talk to myself..."
He grinned. "Then it's settled." He moved off of her and Shannon thought for a moment about how cold it was before she was brought to her feet by Rory.
He hugged her tight and Shannon fought the impulse to hug him back. Sure, she didn't want to be alone, but that didn't mean that she would enjoy it.

Edward was leaning on the hallway wall when he saw Rayana come up the last flight of stairs.
"WHat took you so long?" he teased. She rolled her eyes at him.

james soon joined them in the hallway.

michelle just kind of watched them all, on the edge of the scene.
