"Few cups of water, package of yeast, honey. Stir," she rattled off from memory. "And you've got flour on your nose."

"Didn't notice," he said, dusting it off with his fingers.

"No problem," she said, taking the bowl of flour over to the sink and eyeing how much water splashed in without using measurements.

He came up behind her and put his arms around her waist.

She smiled, and a few moments later she turned off the tap and put the bowl aside. "Can I help you?" she asked quietly, a laugh in her voice.

"My plan didn't work," he murmured, dissapointed.

"What was your plan?" she asked, turning around and wrapping her arms around his neck.

"To scare you," he said and laughed.

She laughed and gave him a quick kiss. "You're welcome to keep trying so long as nothing spills," she said, moving to empty the pagkage of yeast into the bowl and began stirring.

"That would be a tragedy."

"I'll say. And then what will you do without food?" she teased.

"I know! I'll starve."

"And we wouldn't want that."

He nodded and grinned. "Okay, next step? I'm eager to finish this so I...I mean, we can eat."

Laughing, she kissed his cheek and spread flour out on the counter. Scooping the dough out with her hands, she started kneading it until it started to resemble bread dough instead of watery flour.

"I'll sit, then," he said and did so.

"You want to have a go at this stuff?" she teased, looking back at him. "Good for your pent up energy."

"I'll save my energy for eating."

"You do that." And so she occupied her time with attacking the dough.

"Uh-huh," she murmured through her concentration, adding honey now and then until the room was filled with its smell.

"Glad you think so." She dumped the dough into the bread pan. "Half an hour for it to rise a bit, then into the oven it goes."

"That's a long time."

Addie laughed and nudged his hip with hers. "Patience, grasshopper. We'll find something else for you to snack on while we wait." She started rummaging through the cabinets and produced a bag of chips. "This is all I've got that doesn't require preparation," she said, tossing it to him.

"Starving people genrally eat fast and then complain that they don't feel well after," she said matter-of-factly.

"You do that," she said, lounging on the couch in the other room to wait.

And so he began to eat, occasionally glancing at the unbaked bread.

"You can't eat bread dough, silly, it doesn't taste good," she teased, picking up on what he was looking at after a while.

"I've realized," he said sadly.
