Riley was running around the living room, terrified and confused. Why was he suddenly a dog??? Why wasn't he a human??? What was going on??? He sat in the middle of the floor, chewed at his paw, and whined pitifully for a couple seconds, then jumped up again and ran around frantically, hyper with nervous energy.

Matt walked inside through the back door (which led into the kitchen), his iPod playing too loudly for him to hear anything aside from the music. He opened the fridge boredly and saw a bit of chocolate cake left, so he decided to finish it off - and hey, the fridge was stuffed, so if he ate the cake there would be a bit more room.

The milkman whistled a tune under his breath as he made his usual way around town, delivering milk and the ocassional carton of eggs. He had a particular favorite customer coming up, and he had chocolate milk special for the kids, their mother's order. They ought to be pleased.

Riley jumped at the sound of someone by the door and howled.

The milkman jumped a little at the sound, his whistling sputtering to a stop. There was never a mention of any dogs, and he'd never seen one during this whole route most days. Maybe he ought to see if everything was okay; after all, usually no one was home at this hour.

Riley's howl trailed off as he ran out of breath gradually, so he began pawing at the door.

Or at least let the dog out. But then maybe he should run. He bit his lip, debating. But in the end he closed his eyes and opened the door just a crack.

Riley jumped back a bit in surprise as the door opened, then charged out. He saw a person, and the instinct to hurry up with his first hunt and get it over with already took over. He jumped.

The milkman dropped the milk and the eggs and, well, everything, in order to shield himself from the attack. If he lived through this, his boss would be so pissed.

That really does suck. Then Riley sort of came to his senses and whined again. Well, shit, he killed the milkman. Now what??? God, being human was so much easier. He crept back inside the house and squeezed under the couch.

Adrianne woke up early because she thought she heard glass breaking. And that wasn't good because she just had a dream about breaking a mirror and then getting, of course, qutie a bit of bad luck. She rushed downstairs and checked all the mirrors before she noticed the door was open.

Matt washed the plate and left the kitchen quietly, sneaking back up to his room before anyone noticed he'd been gone.

Addie stepped outside with all the grace of a panicked five year old, which is to say, none at all. She narrowly avoided stabbing herself with the broken glass on the ground, and screamed when she saw the milkman, dead and broken on the ground.

Riley nearly jumped out of his skin at the sound and ran back outside. Oh, it was...Addie? He pulled at her pant leg.

Addie tripped and fell over Riley and tried to scramble back inside the house, still screaming and quite literally on the verge of tears.

Riley ran in front of her to stop her, making his pitiful crying sound he'd been making for most of this depressing plot.

Poor Riley. Addie basically fell on Riley as opposed to on her face, which I guess is a plus.

Adddie would have swore if she knew what any of the words meant, so she didn't. Her words didn't make sense, either, but she was more or less in a panic, and no one was coming to help her. Soon, the only solution her five-year-old mind could think of was to cry.

Matt had turned off his iPod by now, (view spoiler)[fucking lucky asshole that he is to have an iPod at 10, (hide spoiler)] and therefore ran downstairs(view spoiler)[, even though he is supposed to have been abandoned/lost at either 2 or 7, can't remember which, (hide spoiler)] as soon as he heard Addie begin to cry, phasing into wolf form on the way. He growled when he saw the new wolf, making Riley cry again. At that, he phased back and surveyed the scene. He noticed the door was open and there was something bloody out there, so he closed it, preferring not to know what the blood was from.

"Matt!" Addie cried, scrambling to her feet as quickly as her little legs could carry her and trying to jump over the little glass pieces as she ran to him.

He hugged her. "Who are you?" he asked the cub.
The cub walked over to him and nudged his leg in reply.

Addie yelled again as she saw the blood on his muzzle. "Aaaahhh! He killed the milkman, he killed the milkman!"

Riley jerked away and ran up the stairs to his room.

Addie screamed again and ran into the house after the small wolf.

Matt followed them both, overtaking Addie and catching Riley in the room.
Riley skidded to a stop in the corner and let Matt trap him there, hoping it would end at that.

"I don't know!" Matt looked around and noticed the empty bed. He tilted his head towards it and gave the cub a questioning look.
Riley nodded frantically.

Addie gasped. "Riley?" she almost shouted. She really tried not to. It hurt.

Riley nodded some more, wriggling out from the corner and running over to her, wagging as hard as he could and knocking Matt over.
Matt caught himself on a wall and watched what would happen next.

"You killed the milkman?" she whispered, near tears. Again.
