Quinn huffed and crossed his arms over his chest. "Idiot. You're even stupider than I thought."

Quinn didn't reply, continuing home. He sat down in a chair at the dinner table and let out a deep sigh, sinking to place his chin on the table. "Life sucks."

Jack heard that and came over to Quinn's house. "Don't you start going emo too, that'll make me the only one half-holding on left!" he complained, without a greeting or request to enter.

Riley followed Quinn's scent back to Meadow. "Hey."

"Er...so...was that true?"
"What?"
"Quinn said you loved me."
"...What??!!"
"Yes." Riley looked at Meadow's expression. It was closed, as usual these days. Her tone was quite surprised and maybe...betrayed?
"It's not true."
"You sure?"
"I love you, you're my best friend. But that's all, Riley."
"OK. I didn't think it was true...."
"It's not."

Quinn jumped and stared at Jack. "Huh? What's what about emo left?"

"Tell me about it." Quinn shook his head and stood up. "I was just about to make some cake. Want to stay over for dinner? Feeding people is so therapeutic."

Quinn sighed, pulling out some pots and measuring cups. "Of course I did. Of course she refused."

"I'd love it if she came over." Quinn grinned. "That is, if she'd even step into my house again. I was kinda mean to her earlier..." He frowned as he gathered his ingredients. "You sure you can't stay over for dinner?"

"I'll be here to make sure she stays and eats. I won't eat."

"Why won't you?" Quinn looked over at him, excited at the thought that Meadow would come.

"Don't feel like it. I'll be back then." He left.

"Alright. Um, so...see you around. And you should eat something, by the way, you look awful."
Meadow shrugged. "I'll hunt later."
"Make sure you do. You're my best friend, I want you to be OK," Riley said, half-smiling at her.
Meadow timidly smiled back. "Yeah."
"Speaking of," Jack said, coming over, "I'm force-feeding you. Come on."
Meadow rolled her eyes and followed, waving good-bye to Riley. "Where are we going?"
"You'll see." He led her in the direction of Quinn's house.
Meadow gradually guessed where they were going, but decided to go with it.

Quinn watched Jack leave and blinked once in slight confusion before shrugging it off, finishing the batter and sticking it into the oven.

They entered Quinn's house and went to the kitchen silently, Jack holding Meadow's wrist to make sure she wouldn't leave.

Quinn turned and smiled shyly when he saw Meadow. "Hi Meadow." He looked in his freezer and pulled out some chicken. "How does lime chicken sound?" He felt a little awkward talking to her after blowing up in her face not too long before.

"Sure." She shrugged.

Quinn grinned and pulled out a skillet, beginning to cook the chicken. He opened the fridge to pull out a container of rice. "Hope you don't mind leftover rice."

"'T's fine," she murmured. She pulled her hand out of Jack's, but stayed near him.

Quinn gazed down at his hands. "Look, Meadow." He turned to look at her, mainly ignoring Jack. "Sorry about what I said earlier."
