The Thing lurked in the forest behind the two young women. It could tell Riley felt something was slightly off, but that only made it more fun.
It came closer and closer, waiting for Riley to notice it.

((if you want, addie or someone can be like "what is that?" or something :P))

Addie glanced around in a paranoid sort of way. "What is that?"

Riley's eyes narrowed. "You can feel it too?"
The Thing paused in its advance.

[Michelle, Where's your sense of adventure?]

"Yeah... and it's not pleasant."

Riley shook his head, looking around.
"What?" Crys asked. "There's nothing."
Riley's gaze rested on her, and he suddenly remembered when he had sensed the same thing before. "Fuck," he muttered, jumping down from the tree and phasing, not that it would do any good.
The Thing took that as a cue to come out into the open.
Riley lunged for its throat.

[Michelle, Where's your sense of adventure?]

Adrianne whirled around, trying to make sense of what was going on. And then, of course, she saw it.

It continued calmly on as Riley jumped through it, towards Crys.
Crys took a few steps back. "Who the hell-?"

[Michelle, Where's your sense of adventure?]

Addie pulled Crys out of the way. "Head on over here, it's a long story."
Riley, it's no use!

Crys did, but The Thing followed.
Riley ignored her and leaped again, but this time The Thing turned around and hit him, throwing him back against a tree.

She guided Crys up the tree. "Sit with Ollie. I'm going to see what I can do."
"Why can't I help?" Ollie asked.
"Because I'm older."

"You can explain what that thing is to me," Crys told him.
Riley rolled over and attacked the thing for the third time. ((idiot.))

"I'm not exactly sure," she said in a rush, hurrying back down to the ground. Stay there, she thought to the both of them. She phased, too, and nipped at Riley's tail. Idiot! You can't win!

Riley jumped away from her, but also from The Thing, but he was still snarling, his fur standing.

Addie snarled at it, too. Get out! she told it. There's nothing for you here!

"Nothing?" Its voice was icy and seemed to surround them, rather than come from one particular source. "Not so."

[Michelle, Where's your sense of adventure?]

What could you possibly hope to accomplish? she challenged.

"That is no business of yours, child," it said, then, seemingly annoyed with the questionings, disappeared.

Child?! she spat, growling at the empty air.

Riley took a few snaps for good measure, then phased back.

What the hell was that? she asked, unable to keep her tone reasonable, even when she was talking to Riley.

"I don't know...you alright, Crys?"
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"

Addie stalked back to the base of the tree, muttering something about 'overreacting' and 'freaking everyone out.'

"He killed Leo!" Riley snapped to both.

She phased and glared at him. "Then you could have said that when I asked you what that thing was!" she shot back, slapping the back of his head.

"I didn't know what it was yet then!" he said, looking like he'd have punched her back were she a boy.
