Me neither. I had to read "The boy in the striped pajamas" for school. Have to say that I liked the movie version much more. (Maybe because of James Honer´s music and the camera operations)

I loved The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. I think it's brilliant in its simplicity, in that it can be enjoyed by older kids and adults alike. I've also read The House of Special Purpose, which I totally recommend. This story is set against the backdrop of the communist revolution in Russia and the fall of the tsars. I couldn't put it down. I think John Boyne is a very talented storyteller.

Yes the author has several different books including;
The House Of Special Purpose
Noah Barleywater Runs Away
Mutiny on the Bounty
The Thief of Time
Crippen
The Absolutist
The Dare
Next of Kin: A Novel
The Congress Of Rough Riders
The Terrible Thing That Happened to Barnaby Brocket
The Second Child

John Boyne's book 'The boy in the Striped Pajamas' is very moving and special but I think that these other books might just, be nearly as great!

Penny Dawson That is my next book club selection and I look forward to reading it b/c I enjoyed Boy in the Striped PJs. Yes, it may not have been realistic, but it ...more

Scary premise ...totally unrealistic.....anyone reading this believing any of it is being subjected to the dumbing down of information on a huge level! No part of this story was remotely conceivable. Grabs heart and flowers ideas but without any intelligence or knowledge of what camps were constructed like, how efficiently and thoroughly guarded. Absolute nonesense!

Ian I think it is meant to be a fable rather than a work of actual realism.

The thief of time: boring. 2 stars.
Mutiny on the bounty: not bad. 3 stars.
Crippen: superb. 5 stars.

ive read the second child and it was awesome! it was a little sad but overall 4 stars!

I've read Noah Barleywater Runs Away, I preferred it to The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, which I'm not a big fan of.

I've read Noah barleywater runs away which I found was alittle strange but you get into it very easily!!

Would definitely recommend "The House of Special Purpose" by this author, well worth a read.

This House Is Haunted.

A bit predictable, but quite a good read.
