Imagine Blogspot or Wordpress but with half the usefulness removed from them.

to be fair - probably makes little difference to me as I can't use half of wordpress except for when you point stuff out to me, oh wordpress yoda :)

Wordpress tips? You do wordpress tips? All masters need disciples. Teach us oh wise one.

With the loss of GFC, cam't the blog providers find something universal. It drives me crazy having to pick and choose which method to follow by.

Luckily I still have GFC but I find it very difficult to follow wordpress blogs, very annoying

I feel much the same about blogger blogs, but I do it anyway. On a sour note it is my understanding (and I could be wrong) that GFC will eventually be phased out for Blogger too. Anyone know anything about this?

Dear GFC,
I simply don't understand why you removed it from any other blog websites aside from Blogger. Sure, blogger is owned by Google, but can't you ever consider the needs of other blog websites? Why don't you consider the fact that we bloggers build and pride ourselves from how connected we are with each other, and the removal of it has been completely damaging.
Also, I don't want to have to use linkys or networked blogs because I am lazy. Your argument is invalid.
Not much love,
From Hayley.
I like doing open letter rants.

Emily when you say you have trouble following Wordpress blogs, do you mean ones that don't have the option to follow via email? Or do you prefer to follow using other methods?
Sadie - anything in particular you are having problems with...?
I had a quick look at yours and you seem to be doing the basics right.
The only thing I can see that might be wrong is that your commenting name doesn't link back to your blog - however I am not sure how much this effects self-hosted blogs like yours.
Dashboard > Users > Personal Settings > scroll down to Website and put in the full address of your blog.

Following by email annoys me for some reason but I usually do that with Wordpress blogs. If thats not an option I give up and don't follow

I take it you prefer the GFC system? I have never used it myself so don't know how it works.
I am considering moving to self-hosted at some point in the distant future and it would be good to know this. Adding in extra 'follow' widgets and stuff is an option but it can slow the blog down.
Michael wrote: "Hmmm, that's quite interesting actually. I assumed following by email was the preferred way for most people.

It only annoys me because I follow about 40 blogs so that would be a lot of emails, gfc just had a list of posts

Nothing that I am having particular problems with. It's just that I made my first post on March 10th (I'm just over a month old now), and when I made that first post I had to stare at it and finger out how. Don't even get me started on what it took to figure out that I had to install plugins before I could use widgets-things like that. Its been a steep learning curve, so I am always looking for how tos, tips, and tricks.
I fix my comment name. Thank you for letting me know it didn't work AND how to fix it.
I prefer the networked blog or linky (I would vastly prefer only to have one) because it puts all of the blogs updates in one place that I can go check all together as opposed to individual emails.

www.wordpress.org is dedicated to self-hosted Wordpress blogs in case you didn't know. I have found lots of useful info for others there in the past.

Emily: I agree with you - I tend to follow most blogs via Twitter now to dip in and out of features/reviews I''m interest in as I follow around 50 book blogs and it would be way too many emails - if that's the only follow option I tend not to do it unless I REALLY like the blog

Please tell me it's not just me?
At the moment I'm seeing holiday home ownership ad but iv seen the dating one. STOP CHANGING GR!!!

I am having similar problems with 'liking' other pages as well - sometimes the Like button just isn't showing up.
It seems to be that if I click on someone's name I am not being taken to their proper page address. If they give me the proper address I can then see the Like button.

I have that problem too, but I always assumed it was because it is a fan page and therefore has limitations.

Not much surprisingly. Hackers did. I was very worried when everyone was messaging me saying I'd been hacked. I panicked thinking they'd written something really embarrassing. Technology hates me.

"You" told me someone was making bad rumors about me. I figured the poor grammar and prompt to log in was a clue that I could ignore it. I'm sorry that happened to you though. It sucks.

I don't know what the link is but it probably asks for your username and password, thus giving the hackers your login details...
Yep I've received the same message 3 times from different people, you'd think Twitter would be a little bit harder to hack

Anyway - mature dating woman is back in the advert column now - she freaks me out and puts me off hanging around goodreads too long now - maybe she needs to re-think her profile picture if other people are having a similar reaction?

Is it the woman in the too tight black and white dress with the demon eyes? She freaks me out too.

Still can't like anyone's page. Just have to use the personal account. Stupid Facebook.

Mine was doing the same thing. In the end I just chose the delete blog option and then set it up again.

Odd. I had a quick look on Google and this might explain it - http://www.4networking.biz/Forum/View...
Did you set your page up as a business or as a person? If you did it as a business you will only be able to 'Like' other businesses.
I can't access Facebook here at work so can't look at anything myself.
