Skaw | 116 comments I am a unrepentant paper book lover and often haunt used book stores looking to increase my already overflowing collection of favored paper and hard backs. I love that high of finding an unexpected treasure and hauling it back home (ignoring the eye roll it receives).
My latest find was four books in C.J. Cherryh's Alliance-Union Universe. I found Merchanter's Luck, Hellburner, Rimrunners, and Heavy Time all in hardback in pristine condition (despite being published in the 1980's) for $6 each. Score!

What treasure have you found lately?

kvon | 563 comments I picked up a Tom Holt book recently at the local used book store/church basement, for about two bucks. And when I was in Maine last month I found myself buying several books by Mainers Sharon Lee and Steve Miller.

Jack | 46 comments 1977 Blue Star edition of Michael Moorcock's Elric of Melnibone - illustrated hardcover in red leather slipcase, in great condition. $13!!!! (& I rarely use exclamation points).

Ironically when my son was born our library (meaning a room) became a nursery, and we sold a ton of books off. Now I am very conscious of acquiring certain books so they will be readily available around the house when he is older...

Nicole (nickidenicki) | 12 comments I got a Nook about a year ago and I tend to read on that more then paper books but nothing tops the thrill of finding that paper book that you have been looking for. A few years ago I was introduced to a book recycling place (also known as heaven)where teachers can go to this 2 story warehouse and just get what ever they want for free. I got got a few Harry Potter books and full classroom sets of all sorts of great classic books.

Almira (Imbre) | 17 comments I found a vintage copy of Connie Willis's little known Lincoln's Dreams--it was a number of years ago now but still my best find--great book :)

Jack | 46 comments A few years back I scored a paperback of JG Ballard's A Drowned World for a couple of dollars. It was out of print at the time so I was thrilled...

I love the Liaden books (Lee and Miller). Because they self-publish, some of their stuff is hard to find in paper form (they have all of it available online). If I stumbled across a hardback copy of Liaden Universe ® Companion Volume One , I would probably jump up and down right in the bookstore. Same goes for some of their chapbooks.
