This book should be read by everyone because it will give you a better understanding of a person with a disability and help you understand that they are exactly like you even if they speak or walk differently.

I agree, I read the book and fell in love with it! I read a similar book called Wonder and it was like that a little.
Yeah, I thought that the book was really good. I had never actually read a book like this before I read this one. Mostly because the books didn't appeal to me. Then my librarian told me I should read it so I did. Now I read books like this more often.
I have read Anything but Typical and Nothing (at least I think that's what it's called) after I finished this one.
What are the other books like this one? I have now added "Anything But Typical" by Nora Baskin to my reading list but who wrote "Wonder"?

Blindsided is about someone going blind, but it is sort of the same as out of my mind because you are in her head. Their is also girl stolen where it is about a blind girl being kidnapped. There is also Joey Pigza swallowed the key. This one is about a boy with ADHD.It is great too.
This book was the best one I have ever read (and i have read a lot) but one question I have is where did the author get these great ideas i dont need the real answer just a thought on what the idea she had that started thids idea might be

Excellent book that gave me a new perspective on handicapped people. I loved Melody and thought this story provided many opportunities for discussion with students.

I agree that this book is great (Wonder is also very good).
