Do you prefer the Harry Potter series or The Hunger Games series?

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

I prefer Harry Potter.

William Malmborg Hard to compare. They are both completely different from each other.

Mahesh both of them has two different identities...its hard to compare two books of different genres...
its like comparing a kilogram to kilometer..!!

Alya Really hard. But I think Harry Potter.
Harry Potter touches you more emotionally than any book Ive ever read.
But these two are still so different from eachother...

Ciara I love them both, but I think that the Hunger Games book's got slightly worse as they went on, and the first book is probably my favourite. And because J.K is my favourite author, the Harry Potter movies are my favourite movies, and Harry Potter is my favourite series, I say Harry Potter.

Dani Neira My vote is Hunger Games.
Yeah, Harry Potter was exciting, and scary, and had a good message about friendship and love and all that...but you wouldn't catch me crying over it. Mockingjay especially had me sobbing uncontrollably, because I was so close to the characters.
Actually, if you think about it - they're both very morally upright series :) Other than that...they're both really different, they're both really good - so it's just personal preference really.

Eric Priuska I prefer Harry Potter. The Hunger Games was really exciting and (at times) very moving, but Harry Potter was more than just a great story. It created a world that lives on inside my head.

Fauuzzie Screw the Hunger Games!!!
Nah, I kid the HG. I like them both....
Though the HP series is less annoying.
And the Deathly Hallows was friggin' awesome!!
...While, in my opinion, Mockingjay was a disaster...

Elia I think the series are way too different to say if I like one "better." That's like asking which do you like better - pizza or pillows. Both are awesome in their own way.

That's true. Though if I had to live without one, it's be pizza. I love my pillows:)

Ember Well i would totally chose harry potter I mean the hunger games have really been my favorite too but comparing it to harry potter well harry

Rachel I WILL NEVER CHOOSE ON OVER THE OTHER!!!! that is like picking a favorite child for me. Haha, i will never be able to decide that.I ADORE both series and will till the end of time!

Julia Enakshi wrote: "the hunger games are pointless!! harry potter power!!! whoop whoop!!"

hunger games are not pointless *broken-hearted weeping*
But I have to agree with you about the potter power. <3

Barbara HP most definitely. There were so many more subplots in HP and so much foreshadowing that JKR did that makes the series much better.

I barely made it through the HG series. I'll never re-read it but I'll never get tired of HP.

Meghann To compare HP and TGH is like comparing a panda to a elephant. They are such different things. Yet both stand for what they believe it and pursue whats good. Yes they are the causes for many deaths and they have other similarities, but they are in no way the same thing. You cant say one is better than another in a poll like this. It just doesn't make any sense. For instance putting the Charlie Bone series and HP together in a poll, yes that is logical. TGH is something hard to compare to. It's newer, so no one yet has come up with a copy series. They are both excellently written and both have a large impact on many young children. Let's all think before we compare.

Janry Estela Harry Potter. J.K Rowling's imagination is so unique, only a gifted mind like hers could imagine such epic story that would blow beyond everyone's expectation . It is a fantasy series that is hard to forget, simply amazing. :)

Allie HARRY POTTER FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry but it's easy for me to compare them. I liked HP way more than I did THG. I liked the way HP was written. The characters were more real to me than the ones in THG. The plots and sub-plots were more intricately woven. By the time I finished the series, I had this sense of awe, this epic-ness (not a word I know). I didn't have that when I finished THG. I barely finished that series.

Harry Potter, hands down. It has such imagination. But you do know you're comparing apples and oranges, right? It's like comparing the Halo series with Star Wars.

Maanasa The hunger games has an interesting premise, but the writing isn't that great in terms of quality, and neither is the depth of the characters and subplots, or even the main plot for that matter. Whereas JKR is a teriffic writer. HP is very well written and the plot and character development is amazing!! But I will admit that I am biased since HP is my childhood. HP all the way!!!!!

Madeline harry potter no matter what it will and still be the best books to read. People grow up with harry potter (i didn't) people had to wait to get the books and the HP books are the best. I LOve the hunger Games with such a strong women, but harry potter will win always.

Catherine Harry Potter
hunger games was good, but Harry Potter is the only book that I can read over and over, and never get bored of.

Madeline i agree with Catherine. you can never get bored of reading the harry potter books.

Asha Seth Harry Potter

message 29: by Kaeri (last edited Aug 14, 2012 08:26AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kaeri I can't see why there's a point in comparing.
Harry Potter is a magical/fantasy/sorcery themed-novel.
Hunger Games is a dystopian novel.

This is like comparing Adobe Photoshop with Adobe Flash Pro.

Hannah Christmas Personally I prefer Harry Potter. I like both plots just the same, and they are pretty hard to compare since they are kind of different genres. But I love J.K. Rowling's writing style so much more than Suzanne Collins. I felt like Rowling developed her characters much better throughout the series and that everything just made much more sense the way Rowling described things and how they happened. I didn't feel as connected to the characters in The Hunger Games.
Plus I love how Harry Potter ended, but I didn't care too much for Mockingjay.

Aena HARRY POTTER ALL THE WAYY!!!

message 32: by Bob (new) - rated it 4 stars

Bob The Hunger Games is way under developed and superficial when compared to the depth and variety of HP's world.

Khira Azhed harry Potter forever..
