Brookepaw peeked outside the apprentice den. No one's near by. She hurried into the dark forest.

Graydawn decided to just go out hunting and hope that Brookpaw was smart enough to follow her scent trail.

Brookepaw scurried through the woods. She caught a mouse and buried it so she could find it again later.

graydawn got wiff of brookepaws scent she started to follow. she decided she was justgoing to watch her apprentice do whatever she was doing.

Brookepaw heard a noise. She quietly turned and saw...a vole! She contemplated how to catch it. A minute later, a fat vole was hanging from her mouth.

Graydawn had caught up to Brookepaw in time to see her catch the vole. She was surprised at well her apprentice could hunt. She decided to watch for a little bit longer.

Brookepaw walked back to the place where she layed the mouse. She picked it up and walked back to camp. The food was placed on the fresh kill pile, and Brookepaw returned to the apprentice den.

Graydawn decided she wasn't going to tell Brookepaw she had seen her hunting. She went to the apprentice and whispered "Brookepaw are you there"?

"Hmm?" Brookepaw lifted her head sleepily, as if she had just woken up.

"Come on we are going to practice fighting" Graydawn said impatiently.

Burningstar had watched the whole thing, had watched Brookepaw sneak out of her den. He too, dropped enormous amounts of prey on the fresh-kill pile, but he was staring at Brookepaw.

"Fine." Slowly, Brookepaw stood up and stumbled out of the den.

Burningstar turned his gaze away from her so she wouldn't suspect anything. But in truth, he wondered what she was doing.

Graydawn noticed Burningstar staring at her apprentice. She wondered did he see her too?

Burningstar caught Graydawn's gaze, showing that he had in fact seen her. He shook his head. He wondered why she was being so secretive!

Brookepaw looked up at Graydawn. "Well? Are we going?"

Burningstar padded past them both, flicking Graydawn's ear with his tail. "If you'd both like, you could come hunting with me!"

Graydawn thought well maybe if her leader is watching her she will behave. "I'll be right back" Graydawn told Brookpaw. Then went over to Burningstar and asked "Could you come and watch Brookpaw and me. During her training"?

Burningstar purred. "I'd be delighted."

"Thanks" Graydawn said over her shoulder as she headed back towards Brookpaw.

Burningstar settled down onto the sandy ground, waiting for them both.

"Okay Brookepaw come on" Graydawn said as they got to the training area. "Attack me" Graydawn commanded.

Burningstar sat patiently on the side. He knew that Brookepaw had it in her to become a great warrior. He just had to let it come out.

Brookepaw lunged at Graydawn's side.

Graydawn easily moved out of the way. "You should try not looking at the place your going to pounce" Graydawn insructed her apprentice.

Burningstar laughed to himself. That was the exact same thing that he used to do.

Brookepaw carefully studied Graydawn's tail. She was about to pounce, when she suddenly changed her mind. She attacked her mentor's ear.

Graydawn barely had time to get out of the way. Then with out warning she pounced on Brookepaws back.

Burningstar watched with interest as he noticed the sudden change of decision in Brookepaw's eyes.

Brookepaw rolled over, pinning Graydawn to the ground.

Burningstar laughed as he watched the surprise on Graydawn's face.

"You're getting better" Graydawn said with a tone of surprise in her voice

Brookepaw jumped off. "Not really." She looked at the ground.

Burningstar rolled his eyes. He knew that Brookepaw was going to get better. But he was surprised that it had happened so soon.

"Yes you are" Graydawn said then licked Brookepaw on the ear. Graydawn mouthed to Burningstar "She's really good".

Brookepaw brushed off the compliment. "Now what?"

"Thats enough for today. You can go hunt for the clan then come back to camp" Graydawn said while heading over to Burningstar.

Graydawn decided that she was going back to camp.
"Hey Burningstar I'm going to head back to camp" Graydawn called back to her mate.

Graydawn was running towards camp and didn't hear Burningstars reply. She was thinking about having Brookepaw do her final assessment.

Brookepaw hunted a shrew and a mouse before returning to camp. She dropped the food into the pile and went to explore the forest.
