Starkit stalked a mouse. When she was close enough, she leapt on it, and bit it in the neck.

Starkit savored the lick, then dropped a crouch. She saw a thrush, and stalked it. She watched, then sprang, snapping its' neck.

Starkit danced back to Oakpaw, her eyes shining. She was in complete bliss. Not only was she doing fantastically with hunting, but she got to spend her entire time with Oakpaw.

Oakpaw let her bury her prey then playfully pounced on her back.

Starkit laughed, and rolled over, gently crushing Oakpaw.

Starkit nodded eagerly. "Oakpaw showed me how to stalk, and it was fun! And then he jumped on me and we started to playfight."


Runningwind smiled, although it was weak. "I see..."

Runningwind nodded. "So, you taught her? That's great."

"Yep" Oakpaw said wondering what Runningwind was up to.

Runningwind took a deep breath. "So, it looks like you guys have become very close friends, eh?" she said, carefully.

Starkit noticed the tension shooting between Runningwind and Oakpaw, and decided to ask. "What's going on?" she asked pleasantly.

Oakpaw looked away but kept his head high. "Nothing" he said sweetly.

Starkit smiled. "Okay then! Let's go back to camp."

Starkit shot Oakpaw a glance. "What was that all about?"

Starkit nodded, but wasn't reassured. "Well, okay. Maybe we could go out hunting again tomorrow!"

Starkit felt warmth trickled down her spine. She had spent the entire day with Oakpaw. She felt great. "Sure, see you!"
