Jane, Xhex and Payne from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series are also pretty strong heroines.
Jane doesn't know how to fight like Xhex and Payne, so she is stronger intellectually but hey, she doesn't let anyone mess with her.

I don't know all of those characters, but the ones I do; Annabeth, Luna, Hermione, Thalia,... are all very strong independent characters!! I love them all!

A heroine who is the backbone of a story should also have a backbone, thus enabling her to stand up to the hero, evil relatives, and the like!

Good traits ~

(1).

Your heroine should be strong enough to handle your hero, even at his worst. Even if he does something that crushes her, she should be able to stand up to him.

(2).

The best heroines must be strong. Even heroines who seem to be quiet should have an inner strength, even if it's a sort of "quiet strength."

(3).

While they are strong, heroines are often kind and gentle, devoted to their families, and so forth. Make them strong enough to stand up for what they want.

Above all, the best heroine should both complement the hero and serve as a foil to him. She acts rather than being acted upon. She will go to the hero for help if she must, but only if she has tried all other alternatives..


{personally I think also, Strong heroes deserve heroines who can keep up with them! }



Flaws

(1).

The heroine, however, should not be perfect. If she is, most readers will want to throw up! Also, perfect people make boring characters.

(2).

Yes, it's true. Like the hero, your heroine can be tormented by her past. Notice that heroines tended to be tormented rather than tortured. This is because heroines usually react against their turmoil by suffering on the inside, feeling insecure and unloved.

Trouble heroines are more likely to be inflicted with self-doubt, while troubled heroes are more likely to act like jerks -- perhaps the troubled heroes are hoping to drive away all the people who might care about them and thus possibly reject them?



and so, my choices of feisty females in literature would be..


Jo from "Little Women" - - is smart, impulsive, argumentative, and willing to do anything for her family. And obvs, she’s a writer so that’s awesome!!


Princess Cimorene from "Dealing with Dragons" - -

a) runs away from her parents when they try to make her marry a dopey prince!

b) gets a job and moves into a cave with a delightfully sassy talking dragon

c) refuses to be rescued

d) makes friends with a cool witch

e) ends up saving the day!!

so cool!!


Meg Murry from "A Wrinkle in Time" - - She was stubborn and self-conscious, but so determined, smart, and caring.
Plus, she got to do all sorts of time traveling and becomes a badass mathematician!

.. so damn relatable.


Hermione Granger from "Harry Potter" series - - a girl who wasn’t afraid to openly declare her love for studying and reading, a badass who found a group of true friends who accepted her as she was.

Hermione helped me embrace my inner nerd!!

Enigmatic, cool characters within a variety of literature would include these feisty females within fiction..


1). Honoria Anstruther-Weatherby from Stephanie Laurens’ Devil’s Bride, oh how I love you!

Honoria shines in ways that are entirely fascinating..
She’s innocent and yet fearless, and level headed.
She’s capable and longs for adventure of some sort.
She kicks ass within the assigned boundaries her gender (considering this is a historical novel) and yet stands out because she’s so strong willed and confident in herself.


2). Grace Harper {The Immortality virus} is a sympathetic, kick-ass heroine:

strong, spirited and opinionated. She also has a kind heart that stands out in the cruel society she inhabits. I personally loved her witty comebacks and quirky sense of humor.

and


3). think for me this the contrast -- I love heroines like Anne of Green Gables (yes—I’m old! Shut up.)

Anne has got to be one of the bravest heroines I know. Not only does she deal head on with the moment but as she grows and learns what it means to be a woman_ she keeps her joy :)

She finds pleasure in doing her best, no matter what she’s doing.

The flip side of that is I love heroines who do untraditional things.. Stepping outside the lines should be celebrated too —especially by those who stand by our side. Heroines who take roles in stereotypical 'male dominated' fields know what they need..

dare to be crazily different?! or just weird you


Anyway that's all I can think of folks at this moment.
