Anyone else think Finnick's death was pointless?

I thought Finnick's death was the stupidest thing in the whole series (aside from Katniss picking Peeta). I mean, there was no reason for him to die. And the author didn't even make a big deal about it.

I don't think his death was nessecary and Prim's wasn't either! That was the like only thing I didnt like in the whole series, I think it just added sadness:(

It just gave Katniss a reason to feel even more dead inside. Throughout all of Mockingjay she's so morbid, and she's always passing out. Way to make a good action-filled scene. It just made the book a lot less enjoyable to read.

I feel the same, except I was thinking along the lines of kicking it across the floor!

Finnick was my favorite character in the whole entire book. I took my white out and erased the part about him dying. :(
