Florence Wetzel (florencewetzel) Not sure if there are any jazz fans out there, but does anybody have any thoughts about Scandinavian jazz? It's apparently quite a thriving scene. In one of the Wallander books, a character mentions Lars Gullin, who is apparently the tip of an amazing musical iceberg.

Pat (infosleuth) | 76 comments Tord Gustavsen Trio from Norway has been one of my favourite jazz ensembles for years now. I can't recall reading about any Scandinavian-based jazz artists in the crime fiction books I've been reading. I'll keep an ear to the ground, though.

Florence Wetzel (florencewetzel) Thanks, Pat! I will definitely check this out. I hear that Norwegian jazz is particularly awesome. :D

I think but do not know that in Karin Fossum's latest book The Caller there was mentioned Norwegian jazz. Also try Ake Edwardson's latest Sail of Stone for Swedish Jazz.

Thanks, Kenneth! A few weeks after I wrote this, I discovered Edwardson and Inspector Winter's passion for jazz--it was a nice surprise. I've also been doing some research on my own, particularly Swedish jazz, which has a very rich history.
