Barbara Rayne (barbararayne) Hello,
This is an invitation for all of you bloggers-reviewers out there who might be interested in reading and reviewing my newest book "Nette". There is only one blogger that I contacted prior to this post (thank you Megan), so in a way, this is my coming out of my protective bubble and offering my book to all of you opinion makers out there. Yes, that's how I see bloggers - the great force behind keyboards with the power to create and destroy - and that intimidates me.

So, here's what it's about:

Nette by Barbara Rayne

Book Description:
In a world where gender was distinguished by the eye color, blue for female and brown for male, she had the misfortune of being born as brown eyed girl. Being ugly and a freak to everyone was the least of her troubles. Immortal and destined to be a queen, her mere existence was a threat to the king. After everyone she loved was brutally murdered, she had no choice but to pursue the path she was destined.
In a world that made it obvious there was no place in it for her, immortal Nette will have to make room even if it means killing them all.

Synopsis:
The book begins with a young child going through pain that is inflicted by strange lights. She is all alone, the only one human and misses her parents. After a year, she encounters the red light whom she thinks of as her mother. They became very good friends and Nette loved her deeply.
One day, a huge storm came along and carried Nette in her protective bubble away from the land of lights. She found herself in a village surrounded by unknown people whom she didn't understand well, and couldn't explain how she came there because she had forgotten the language. Her grandfather took her and explained to her what happened years ago.
In their land gender is distinguished by the eye color, and she was born with brown eyes - male eyes. That wouldn't be such a problem, except for the ridicule, but there was also an ancient prophecy that said an immortal girl would be born with brown eyes who would kill King Garlid, and become a Queen. She was raised as a boy, until she fell into a river and drowned, only to come alive again. That prompted King Garlid to kill her family, but he couldn't get to Nette, because she was rescued by lights. Now that she was back, her grandfather enrolled her in a military school, knowing King Garlid would want to kill her again.
By the age of thirteen, Nette became a great soldier, but series of events that will follow are not something she was prepared for. People will betray her, kill the only person she loved in the world, and sell her to King Garlid. Even though she was only thirteen, she will be forced to grow up fast and fight for the right to live. She never intended to be a Queen, but the circumstances will leave her no choice, but to walk that path. When you are immortal and everyone wants you dead, what do you do?

This book is suitable for anyone, because it's a story about a girl that has been stigmatized in a society just because she was different. To make it more absurd, the first reason was the color of her eyes. Her immortality just added to the fire!
Be it the color of the skin or worshiping a different God;I see hatred in our present society as equally absurd. I wanted to show how different people are treated, how our noble deeds can be overpowered by hate, and I spiced it up with a bit of romance.

Hopefully, if you decide to review this book, you will enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.

Tricia Kristufek | 181 comments Sounds intriguing! If you don't mind a (long) TBR list, I'll take one.

I'm in pretty much the same situation (except it is a deadline not a TBR that is in the way). I'd take one if you don't mind waiting for the review. In the meantime I'd put it on my blog's TBR list. Thats at least a little promotion.

Barbara Rayne (barbararayne) Tricia, Sadie, thank you for taking interest. I don't mind long TBR lists. I'll pm you for the specifics about the file type.

Barbara
